Frosty-Cold Ruminations
Frosty-cold, she says? ;)
That refers to a frosty-cold glass of lemonade I'm enjoying right now (every sip far from the keyboard as I don't want to spill by accident!)
I don't get people who say they like it when it's humid. How can anyone like weather so humid that you literally sweat simply standing or sitting? Give me a day in the 60s or 70s with low humidity and I'm a happy camper. :)
So we are in the midst of a heat wave, damnit, and I had to cut the grass today. Bleah. I had to stop a few times it was so blasted hot.
Tomorrow I get to go and see Rise of the Silver Surfer! I haven't been to the movies in so long I don't care if the movie is good or bad. I'll be in AC and enjoying some fluffy entertainment!
I'll be going to see Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix after the first wave of hysteria subsides, and I've got my copy of the Deathly Hallows on order from a local bookstore.
The New England Patriots' training camp opens by the end of the month!
I've been enjoying reading other people's fic and delighting in the high quality of DCU fic while busy multi-tasking with my own. So here goes one of my periodic ruminations/fic updates:
Ficcy business: Rainbow's Freedom is coming along nicely. I actually wrote six pages a few days ago, when my usual quota is anywhere from a half-page to two per day. Oh, the angst! It's not called the Shadow Of The Bat Arc for nothing! ;) I have no idea how many words in the arc so far, but going by page count in my notebooks, I've written 138 pages and 21 chapters so far, and are 4 pages into the 22nd chapter. Handwritten pages are kind of cool and writing it this way relaxes me. I bring my notebook outside, sit in the gazebo, write in it while watching Smallville and a few other shows, and generally decided that with this being so massive, it was best not to do my usual write-fragments-in-the-notebook-and-continue-on-computer. Keep all my manuscript and notes in one place, that's the ticket! ;)
The plot pot has been simmering on the stove for awhile, and now things are bubbling! ;)
Finally I feel ready to start writing "Announcement IV: First Contact", the continuation of my very first S/B fic! :) I'm also putting down on paper, so to speak, my first Dick/Roy fic, and as the Labor Day deadline creeps up, am feverishly working on my WWW slash story for the zine Sin & Salvation. Finishing touches are being put on my essay for superhero_muses and should be sent to Jen in a few days, and I'm letting a sequel for a one-shot (Crystal-Clear) I did for Clex (with an evil touch) simmer as my fans have demanded it! ;) Which gratifies this writer's heart muchly, believe me.
I'm taking a break from my pro fic as it's all typed up, and now comes the hard part: revision! So I decided to let things simmer there as well. :)
A new plot bunny hopped into my Garden of Delights and it's tentatively titled "Once Upon A Time" but right now I have no idea how it will play out, except that I love fairy tales! ;)
