Week 7: New England Patriots 23, San Diego Chargers 20 (5-1) (Sunday, October 24, 2010)

Well, that was a wacky game! The Chargers practically gift-wrapped the game with four turnovers in the first half, some of them really dumb. Unfortunately, Tom and the offense was spotty all day, due to the Chargers' defense. It got really hairy in the last two minutes as the Chargers came back to within three points of tying the game (ack, another OT?) but the kicker for San Diego, Kris Brown, dinged it off the goalpost. Of course, another numnutz move by San Diego didn't help his chances as a dumb penalty set him back five yards, making an already-long kick even longer.

So, plenty to work on, but the defense was doing a great job today! Tom did get a TD, but he was unhappy with his performance and will be working like a maniac all week. :)

The Chargers are now 2-5. Ironically, they are in the weakest division so could still pull off a playoff berth but it's looking dimmer every week. They're very talented but undisciplined, and even though they've started slow the last few years and get into the playoffs, this might be the year they miss.

Next up: home against the Minnesota Vikings on Halloween. Get ready for the Return of Randy Moss to Gillette Stadium!
