I'm not entirely sure that this worked. Some places it was hard to discern exactly what was being described.
Yeah, that's the trouble with writing with symbolism. Sometimes you leave people confused! But thanks for letting me know. I can make a note of that for improvement.
Lovely cover, BG! It's really fantastic! And I think your imagery works very well for this. Harrowing, but it would be. And his bravery is beautiful. I like the point about panic being the real enemy for a hero like a firefighter.
Yes, I did enjoy this but... I've never been good with interpreting symbols and such. I can only guess that Johnny died in this fire and that Roy had died some time before...

But, it was well done though :)
Thank you, Rose :)
It can be interpreted any way you wish. You can interpret it as Johnny dying in the fire and Roy already gone, or Johnny being saved and badly burned, living in the burn ward now and Roy visiting him (or already dead). I deliberately wrote it without a definitive ending. :)

Thank you! Poor Johnny's mind was all jumbled as he suffered, but he knew that his Angel would save him.

If a firefighter panics, all is lost. The fear has to be clamped down tightly. It's the only way to do that job!
Thanks for commenting, Ava! This is one of my favorite pieces, and now I have a lovely cover to go with it! :)

Johnny is mortally wounded (or damn near as to make no difference) and Roy comes to him.
Whether or not Roy is actually with John is open to interpretation.
The point is this.
Johnny believes.

Beautiful way of putting it.
