There was real chemistry between them on-screen, too. I noticed that it was Carter as the only other agent with Mel chasing down Pretty Boy Floyd, and Mel requested Doris call for Pullman berths for the two of them. ;)

There were other little moments, too - the two of them sharing the same car in the dark while staking out Billie's place (reading the phone transcripts) Mel touching Carter's face at Little Bohemia...I could go on (and on and on...:)
