Yeah, I think the whole 'befriend Zod so he won't destroy the world' shtick was a little bit too Care Bears, and I think Clark is getting set up for a huge disappointment/more trouble.

Which should be interesting :)

Great review, as always! Poor heroic Ollie... That was such a great scene but... ouch!

Care Bears! LOL!

It's a nice symbolism, this optimism of Clark's, but I have to go with Chloe and Ollie on this one and not trust Zod. Sorry, Clark!

Poor Ollie is right. :(

Did anyone else feel that it was more than a little jarring that Clark was so upbeat at the end? I know, he believes he can change the future, but is that a form of denial? Did it seem as if he was terribly naïve, believing that if he befriended Zod, that Zod’s icy heart would melt because Clark gave him a toy (Sorry, can’t help the Santa Claus Is Coming To Town references, LOL)?Yes! To all of this. Frankly, I thought Clark just came off as weirdly oblivious there. I think we're supposed to be thinking that he's on such a high because of Lois, that nothing else matters? But I don't understand why the writers never seem to realize that this sort of tunnel vision doesn't reflect all that well on Clark ( ... )

I guess they think it's symbolic of Clark's optimism, but it just comes off as naivete.

And his actions after Lois' disappearance didn't sit well with me.

I agree with you about him being more serious. This is serious stuff! Not only does Clark die a painful death, but all his friends!

They probably don't, though I guess I'm the optimist this time. ;)

As for the end, I just took it as happiness that can't be repressed. He saw what would happen without his friends and love by his side, but everything's different now and he HAS to feel he can make a diffference with Zod. Why else did Jor-El tell him to save Zod in Kandor?

I'm a good deal less accepting of Chloe's attitude in the AU. She seems to be treating Clark like a traitor to mankind when he did what he could to stop Zod and failed. Why no anger at Ollie for falling asleep at the wheel and giving Tess such unfettered access to LuthorCorp's power when he is the co-owner? I have no sympathy for the "you left us" argument, as if she was blame-free. Alas, I think I've lost all love for the character. I just think the old Chloe was killed by Brainiac, and what we're seeing is a new person wearing the same skin. So sad.

That's an interesting theory about the ending! That could be. And maybe Jor-El knew that Zod could be redeemed. My cynical self says no. :)

Another good theory about Chloe! I really think Brainiac did a number on her and the Chloe we knew and loved is gone. :(
