Author’s Notes: This story was inspired by Mary Renault’s The Persian Boy. Alexander the Great’s men accepted their leader’s indulgence, who happened to be Bagoas, the Persian Boy, an ex-slave who shared Alexander’s bed. They didn’t object to him being male but that he was a barbarian (non-Greek). It showed their love and respect for Alexander when they accepted Bagoas, and learned to respect him in his own right.
Canon is a jumping-off point but I changed several things, including the survival of Johnny’s gang, as their dynamic was important to this story.
Mostly this is drama with elements of romance, so I said what the heck and included that in the Genre. :)
Yeah, this was going to be a one-shot, albeit a long one, but the boys were just too much fun to play with. ;)
So, enjoy this story of seduction, sex, and a touch of Stockholm Syndrome. ;)

Johnny and Red went outside, Red lighting a cigarette. The pine and spruce trees’ branches swayed gently in the cool breeze. They walked several yards away from the cabin.

“Did you see that sunset last night?” Red struck a match and lit his cigarette.

“It was as red as your hair.”

Red laughed. A big man, taller than Johnny, his hair was always a stand-out. “Going to be a hot one.”

Johnny leaned against a pine tree. “You’re right.”

Red took a drag. “So, what’s the deal?” He jerked his head back toward the cabin.

“You know what it is.”

“He’s more than insurance.”

“Yep.”

“I thought you didn’t like kidnapping. The public doesn’t like it.”

“He’s a hostage. To fortune.” Johnny smiled with a private joke.

“He’s pretty.”

Johnny’s mouth quirked. “Very pretty.”

“Prettier than Floyd?”

“Yep, and waaay smarter, too.”

Red noticed how relaxed his old friend was. His lanky form was resting against the tree trunk, his hair loose and his eyes dreamy.

“It’s risky.”

“Everything we do is risky.”

“It he gets away…”

“He won’t.” Johnny looked at Red. “I wouldn’t risk the boys or you…no matter how much I want to get into Agent Purty’s pants.”

Red had to grin at the nickname. “You know the boys will back you, Johnny. They know what’s what.” He offered the cigarette to Johnny, who took it and raised it to his lips. “Is Billie okay with our ‘guest’?”

“Billie knows I can’t go near her right now. And she understands about what tastes a man picks up in prison.” He blew out a ring of smoke. “I saw him in the newsreels. Very pretty. Dark, soulful eyes, a mouth made for…mmm.” His eyes sparkled. “And then I saw him in the delectable flesh in Arizona.” He smiled. “There was something between us, an…electricity, y’know?” His lips curved into a dreamy smile.

Red laughed. “Do you think Hoover’s No. 1 G-Man wants to take a tumble with you?”

“Why not? I’m good-lookin’.”

Red snickered. “That you are, Johnny boy, that you are. You’ll charm your tongue down his throat before you know it.”

Johnny pushed away from the tree. “Thanks, Red.”

“Any time, Johnny.”

They headed back to the cabin, Johnny’s arm slung around his friend’s shoulders.
