Pat trains with his robot suit and Courtney alters the Starman costume to fit her.
Brain Wave finds Courtney and commands her to bring him the Cosmic Staff, otherwise her mother will suffer a painful stroke. Courtney tells Pat and he tells her to stay home and protect her mother and stepbrother, and he goes off to fight Brain Wave.
Pat isn't doing well but Stargirl shows up and they defeat Brain Wave, who suffers a seizure via the Cosmic Staff.
Courtney urges Pat to remain her sidekick and christens him S.T.R.I.P.E. instead of Stripesy. :)
Icicle plans on killing the new 'Starman'.
Legends Of Tomorrow 5x14
Super wacky fun! Charlie has saved the Legends from her Sisters' vengeance by putting them in TV shows designed to keep the meek populace in line. The Fates have created a world where there is no rebellion or free will. Mona Wu is a drudge and Gary considered crazy because he claims this isn't the world it should be.
Mona and Gary see the Legends in an Ultimate Buds sitcom (Behrad, Nate and Zari); and Highcastle Abbey with Lady Astra and her mother and butler John Constantine; Star Trip with Co-Captains Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe.
Hilarity ensues and Mona and Gary manage to give the Legends their memories back, but that puts them in danger again. When in Mr. Parker's Cul-De-Sac, they go back to their respective TV shows but break free. The Original Zari has been possessing New Zari's body the whole time (she was the one who knew the truth first) and two Zaris end up escaping. Hey, Mick was a Khan-type villain! Yay! ;)
Now the Legends will have to go up against the Fates!
Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. 7x1
Hey, yeah, the gang's back in the 1930s! Totally my jam! :)
Specifically, the gang is back in 1931 New York City, almost City On The Edge Of Forever (which was the city in 1930). Deke even talks about the theory of time in which its like a stream with eddies and backwash, like Spock did. So we're on the right track here, and the clothes are beautiful. :)
The Chronicoms plan to erase S.H.I.E.L.D. by not allowing it to begin, and the agents believe that they will strike at Governor Franklin Roosevelt at a political dinner, as he will create the SSR in a few years when he's elected President. The SSR is the forerunner of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Coulson, who is now an LMD, gets the chance to meet FDR as he's being escorted out, and helps him into his wheelchair. A handshake and a request to keep things private, and Coulson's a happy LMD. :)
Phil Coulson was brought back because of his historical knowledge, and it proves very helpful as he recognizes the sign of the swordfish, which is the password to an important club that is vital to their mission.
Interesting switch as FDR isn't the target at all, but a bartender whose son will one day found HYDRA. Coulson says S.H.I.E.L.D. needs HYDRA to come into being so that S.H.I.E.L.D. can be formed in response, so they have to save HYDRA from the Chronicoms, who have a gruesome way of getting disguises: literally taking the faces of three cops so they could act as security at the dinner, leaving behind blank-faced corpses.
Skye and Mack run up against the sexism and racism of the era, but the story doesn't dwell on those issues, but gives us enough to remind us how things have changed.
Coulson's love of history is very cool (I can relate!) and both Skye and Mack are thrilled to see FDR in the flesh.
A healing Melinda May escapes her healing pod. What's up with her?
Wonder if the agents run across a young Steve and Bucky? :)
