Week 14: New England Patriots 34, Pittsburgh Steelers 13 (13-0) (December 9, 2007)

Wow, I’m running out of superlatives! :)

But, once again, the Patriots got the job done in spectacular fashion. After a slow start, the offense started rolling and the defense stepped up when they needed to in the red zone. Tom threw two touchdown passes to Randy, one of which was absolutely spectacular, and Wes Welker and Jabar Gaffney had huge days receiving as well.

One of the occurrences of the past week was a back-up safety for the Steelers, Anthony Smith, mouthing off and ‘guaranteeing’ a win. Now, you just don’t do that in the NFL, especially against an unbeaten team, and one that has beaten you quite handily in recent years! After the first TD pass to Randy, Tom said something to Smith, putting him on notice! :)

Smith played a poor game, and the Foxboro crowd started chanting, "Guarantee! Guarantee! Guarantee!" ;)

Tom threw four touchdown passes today, bringing his season total to 45. The record is 49, created by Peyton Manning a few years ago. Tom has an excellent chance to break this record. He also threw for 399 yards today, and is close to 4,000 for the year.

Randy caught his 18th and 19th touchdown passes today, breaking his personal record.

In the postgame press conference, Tom looked quite stunning in black leather! ;)

Next week: the New York Jets come to Foxboro. Hmm, we may see quite the blow-out, considering that NYJ head coach Eric Mangini ratted out his mentor earlier this season.

Yes, should be very interesting! ;)
