Damn those Cubbies! When they won the World Series this year, they tilted the Earth off its axis! Now we have Trump in the White House. Thanks, Chicago

Thanks for saying this so clearly and so succinctly; your post pretty much mirrors all of my thoughts. I've thought for weeks that Trump was going to win. As my brother put it, he threw gasoline on an underground fire, and the obstruction of the Republican party over the last eight years on any meaningful change or progress just added fuel to the fire. With their decades of scapegoating "others", and with so many people utterly ignorant as to why nothing was improving economically for people on the ground due to both of these policies, the results of this election did not surprise me at all. And totally agreed, Pence is terrifying. So let's do all we can to make Trump a one term president, and in the future try to get rid of the Electoral College once and for all, so we can at least avoid having the person with fewer votes become president. There's so much else to work on, I don't know where to start. But I'm beginning to get some enjoyment out of daily life again. Immersing myself in completing my Marvel Bang piece helps, as my deadline is fast approaching and I had to draw my attention away from the real world and back to this commitment I made back when the world seemed semi sane. Right now, I am absolutely terrified at the prospect of losing my health insurance. I'm three years away from Medicare, five if the Republicans succeed in raising the age, and despite what anyone has to say about keeping the provision that insurance companies won't be able to deny people because of pre-existing conditions - they'll just raise the rates so high it'll be utterly unaffordable to the people who need it the most.
I had a bad feeling because 1) Nothing he said that would have sunk any other candidate stuck to him, and 2) All the pundits predicted a Hillary victory, and that set my historical radar off (1948). I hoped I was wrong. *sigh*
Pence is crazier than Trump. That puts him to the right of Genghis Khan.
Healthcare will be a battleground, all right.
Fandom helped me during some really rough times in my personal life, and will help me again. Revel in that joy. Writing allows us to express our emotions and keeps the pot from boiling over.
