Week 10: New England Patriots 27, New York Giants 26 (9-0) (Sunday, November 15, 2015)
9-0, baby! ;)
But it was a close one! Whew! It literally came down to the last second as Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski kicked the winning field goal. Before that you had a crisp opening drive by Tom and the offense, but things went awry when they lost star Julian Edelman. Julian has a broken bone in his foot and will be out 6-8 weeks, a huge loss on top of last week’s loss of Dion Lewis. We also lost special teams star Matthew Slater. The NFL season is a war of attrition. Whoever’s left standing has the best chance of taking home the Lombardi Trophy.
There were miscues on both sides with dropped balls, interceptions, and other crazy stuff, including a wild last second lateral by the Giants that kept going on and on until the Patriots got the last receiver out-of-bounds. It was a nail-biter all the way, but the Pats remain perfect, and only Carolina is the other unbeaten team as Cincinnati lost its Monday night game to Houston.
This is the time of year when coaches finally know what they have in a team, and it also means the injuries can pile up. Green Bay has looked awful the last two weeks, and Peyton Manning is so bad that he was benched this week.
Next week is a Monday Night Football game at home against the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills beat the Jets on Thursday night and the Dolphins won their game, so the AFC East Division looks like this:
New England 9-0
Buffalo 5-4
NYJ 5-4
Miami 4-5
