Week 3: New England Patriots 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3 (3-0) (Sunday, September 22, 2013)

So a big improvement from Week 2 to Week 3! The rookie receivers looked like they had a clue, and rookie Kenbrell Thompkins caught two touchdown passes from Tom. Tom now has 52 consecutive games with a TD pass. :)

Tom goofed up on a few throws and knows it. He wasn't blowing his top like last week but he's a smart guy. He knows he can't do that all the time. The frustration just got to him.

The running game was sharp. Brandon Boldin and LaGarrett Blount made some big runs and Stevan Ridley was elusive. He also held onto the ball! :)

The defense is steadily improving. The held the Bucs to 3 points! Rob Ninkovich, our best linebacker, did his usual fine job, as did Pro Bowler Vince Wilfork. Special teams were good, too. Nink just signed a contract extension, which is good to hear.

More interceptions by the D! Aquib Talib is our best cornerback and is making plays. The defense has lacked playmakers the last few years except for guys like Vince and Rob, so it's nice to see other guys stepping up.

It was perfect football weather at Gillette Stadium: not too hot and not too cold, with bright blue skies and the trees beginning to turn colors. A stadium in Boston would have no trees around it! I'm glad Robert Kraft decided to stay in Foxboro to build his new stadium. :)

The Dolphins won so they are 3-0, too. The Jets beat the Bills, so the division looks like this:

New England 3-0

Miami 3-0

NYJ 2-1

Buffalo 1-2

Next week: the Patriots travel to Atlanta to meet Matty Ice (Ryan) and the Falcons. It'll be on Sunday Night Football (8:30 kick-off EDT). :)
