The election was 4 days ago. There were 166 seats to be filled in the country. So far 154 of them are filled.
I vote in Laois Offaly. Electorate 106,312. Votes 74,234.
5 seats to be filled. So far, 4 days later, we have filled One seat. And that was on count 8!
A recount was called on count 10 yesterday, around 5pm or so.
I was up till 1230 last night waiting for a result. And then I went to bed. And then got up and went to work. And then came home from work. I was joking when I hoped I wouldn't miss anything!
They are still recounting...
All I missed was that blood was spilled at the count centre\

After the recount, apparently the electorate is 108,142. This has confused me. Surely recounting the votes does not change the number of people in the constituency who were eligible to vote??
1055 of the 74000 votes were spoiled. I imagine a large part of this was because the ballot paper was designed by someone with a blindfold on. There were 21 candidates - but there were 31 empty boxes on the sheet. I'm reasonably well educated, and I had to examine it carefully to cast my vote correctly.
