Before my last sociology assignment was graded, I had 75.1 points in the class. Since the assingment was worth 15 points, making the total possible number of points 100, I needed a 14.9 or 15 to get me an A. She gave me a 9.9 on my second to last assignment, so I wouldn't be surprised to get docked for just one tenth of a point.
Students,
The last PowerPoint assignment is worth 10 points, not 15 as I said in the syllabus. So the total score you can receive is 95.
Sorry about the confusion, my mistake.
That announcement from the instructor on blackboard struck fear into me as I realized that I would need 100% on my next assignment to even have a chance at getting an A. I panicked about all the extra things I could have added to the last assignment.
I have enjoyed taking your course and have learned a lot from it.
I was praying that such a comment attached to my last assignment would encourage her to give me a good grade. Today, I noticed that she sent the assingment back to me with comments.
Simply outstanding: 10.0
Woohoo - I did the best I could! But would that be enough?
85.1/95=89.58%
Crap, that's just under the 90% needed for an A! Little did I know that a grade was awaiting me through

HAHAHA - I did it! That made my day and boosted my GPA a bit. I definitely needed that at a time when I am the only person manning my computer lab until 5:30PM.
"Katie's Technoliteracy Autobiography"
Today, I was supposed to post an autobiography that addresses how I use and feel about writing and computers. So I logged into the course and went to the message boards in order to get ideas on a writing style from this first assignment. You can imagine how surprised I was to see that assignment posted from my first ex girlfriend on there. It's not a big deal, but just an odd coincidence. That wasn’t the only odd coincidence today though.
Brady: So how did you find my Survivor group on there?
Jennifer: i just stumbled upon it
Brady: Hah, what a small world
Jennifer: i guess so
Brady: Didn't you used to go to Kachina elementary school for a year or two?
Jennifer: oh my god, i did and so did you! i knew i recognized your name from somewhere
Recently, I noticed that someone I went to elementary school with for a year or two joined my
Survivor group on Thefacebook.com. Having recognized her name & picture, I clicked on her profile, kept an eye out for her screen name on AIM. I logged in a bit earlier than usual and she happened to be online, so we chatted for a bit, which was cool.
Damn, my entries have been getting long as of late. I don’t view that as a bad thing, but rather just find it interesting that I’ve managed to write about so much. Here’s a quick rundown of things as of late:
Yesterday, my mom left for Washington D.C.. She’s going with her school’s 8th grade class to Bush’s inauguration AND they are getting a tour of the White House. A parent of one of the kids is some sort of big whig (not just someone who donates a lot of money to politicians) and used their connections.
Friday’s poker night with Jake fell through, so I’m likely going to host it next weekend.
Had dinner with Brandy at Fatburger just a little while ago, partially a celebration of my recent "A". This just went to prove that we never cease to thoroughly entertain each other. I hadn’t eaten at a high quality burger joint for quite some time, so it tasted so damn good.
Speaking of entertainment, I’m planning to go roller skating with Kassi, her friends, and Brandy on Friday. Then, I’m likely going to do some cosmic bowling on Saturday night with Mike, Michelle, Brandy, and various other people.
"That work schedule can’t be easy on your social life."
Someone told me something like that recently. If it’s not easy, then I must have overcome a great challenge, because right now…I consider my social life to kick major ass.
