Renewal Through Retreat

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17

By the grace of God, this weekend renewed so many positive aspects of my life. I got so much out of the entire experience, that it was put on my heart to try to give something back to the over 150 men there. Its something I've shared one on one with people and sometimes small groups and has evolved over time. I've never felt so called to share it right before everyone packed up and left the beautiful camp - My testimony. It flowed out of me very naturally, like the streams nearby, and was appreciated as such.

Here are just a few of the topics covered by the guest speaker, along with a few memorable quotes from various people there:

Seven spiritual distractions: Dabbling, plateauing, inner vows, unclear vision for our life, financial security, frantic pace of life, dead works.

Three fulfilling things to love and "pour into": God & Jesus, a few other guys, and people who don't know Jesus.

"The most profound things about our faith are the simplest."
"Pain is the deepest motivation in life."
"Apathy is the devils worst weapon because it is very subtle."
"To be a father, you must be a son first."
"Having no passion or conviction makes you a sitting duck for the devil."
"We are all leaders."

If you would like clarification on any of these things, just let me know.
