TV Will Never Be the Same

I now see and hear why the FCC is mandating that all over-the-air TV signals be digital and that standard TVs be phased out in a few years. High Definition Television is nothing short of incredible. The $5 extra per month that I pay to Cox is worth it just for the massive 12 foot component video cable that comes with my new set top box, which has better quality picture than S-Video and only falls short to DVI/HDMI cable. I have component video for my PS2 as well. For those of you who think I'm speaking a foreign language, let me translate - Five wires are better than a prong that looks like that of a standard computer mouse, but not better than a cable the width of my thumb which can conceivably "transmit" an entire DVD in a matter of seconds. I hooked up a subwoofer, which makes sound nearly impeccable on the TV that has more wires running to it than my computer. I am going to be very happy with my entertainment center for a very long time.

Yesterday was a very productive day for me. I bought a new trash can to fit underneath the kitchen counter, cleared out my DVR so I could upgrade to HD, got a new shelf for a cabinet in the bathroom, bought groceries from Costco, built shelving to go in between my wardrobe and computer desk, did a load of laundry, unloaded some more stuff from boxes, consolidated some, and got rid of others. If only I spent as much time studying as I do on settling into my new condo - I'd be the Accounting master.

This weekend, I spent quite a bit of time with mom for her birthday, then went to see David in Scottsdale. He was doing pretty well and as always, it was a blast hanging out with him and playing some games, most notably a close game of Canasta until almost 2 AM. I might have to buy that game for myself, but then again, I could say the same about many other games. Michelle, Matt, and I went to the game store once again and played a full game of Betrayal at House on the Haunted Hill. As the game played out, I ended up being the traitor and preceeded to lose, as the "monster" of the game was killed with ease. Despite the swift loss, I am so going to buy that game in the next few weeks. thoughthammer.com seems to have the best deals on such games. There's only one really good way to break them in though - A game night.
