I love the Dave Matthews Band just as much as any hardcore fan. But even I am having a difficult time convincing myself to drop 20 dollars on the
latest Live Trax.
Even though I'm extremely appreciative of the regularity in which they release old shows (they far and away exceed the typical output of other bands), I began to grow disenchanted with the offerings after I purchased
Live Trax Vol. 9. I mean, I can only listen to "Lie in Our Graves" so many times before I grow tired of it, and that is not a song that is played in different variations.
To get my hard-earned dollar, I need uniqueness. I need rarity. I need
Tom Morello guesting with the band in Portugal.
I know I sound like a music snob, but another show "exploding with energy" is not going to cut it.

In other DMB-related news, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds are playing a benefit show at
Seeds of Compassion, which is billed as "an unprecedented gathering to engage the hearts and minds of our community by highlighting the vision, science, and programs of early social, emotional, and cognitive learning."
Who's joining Dave and Tim onstage prior to the show for intimate dialogue on the role of music in building culture, racial and religious bridges?
Oh, just some dude named the Dalai Lama.
