Today was weird. Good, kind of. It started with me waking up early because I had to drive to torrington and teach a lesson at 9. I wasn't all that thrilled about waking up early, but it was a really nice morning so the drive was actually kind of fun. And I like the 3 kids I was teaching. Billy and Madison (HAHAHA sorry I can't help but laugh every time I put their names next to each other) swam a good 15 feet by themselves today so I was pretty proud of them. And Isabelle had a very improved "I can" attitude so that was also nice.
Then I came home and read for awhile and had some lunch and headed off to lifeguard. More boring. Then daycare came in to swim and I had to jump in and grab a kid for the first time this summer. So that ups my total saves in 3 years to two. Haha. Both were daycare kids who decided it would be cool to jump in the deep end when they can't swim very well. It's such an adrenaline rush, and I'm usually kind of shaky afterwards but at least it firms up my confidence in my abilities as a lifeguard.
After a couple hours of guarding I taught another private lesson for an adult. Teaching adults is kind of weird, because they're older and bigger than me, so I have to change my teaching style. And I also feel weird correcting them and telling them what to do. And I think that makes me seem unsure of myself. I dunno. But that one went better than the other one I think. So that's good. Then it started thunderstorming so I got to go home early instead of teaching my other lessons.
Driving to dance I saw a rainbow! Pretty! And dance was pretty great. My slip jig is iffy, but Jack was really happy with my reel and he says I've improved a lot this summer. Woot! And I got most of the treble jig steps to music. So that was good too. I really need to get some music and some new shoes.
But now I don't have dance for two whole weeks! *tear* I'll miss it. I'll have to make sure to practice on my own though because when I come back from vacation Emily will be here and she'll expect me to have the blocking of the steps solid, and my hornpipe is atrocious.
