Top 5 Tear Jerker Moments ...

On my last day of my last summer ever boredom... I decided to waste time on my computer fooling around with my Buffy dvds. Now, for your reading pleasure, I proudly present:

The top 5 tear jerker moments in Buffy's life:

5.) Prophecy Girl

Giles and Angel have just discovered that the prophecy says Buffy will die at the hands of the master. She overhears them, and understandably loses it. At the age of 16, she learned she would die because of her destined job as the protector of the world.

"Read me the signs.. tell me my fortune... Giles, I'm 16 years old! I don't wanna die."

4.) Amends

A mysterious being haunting Angel with images of his past convinced him to kill himself at sunrise. After Buffy found out about their plan, she begged and pleaded with Angel not to end his life. One of the most poignant moments in Buffy/Angel history.

"What about me? I love you so much. And I tried to make you go away, I killed you and it didn't help. And I hate it. I hate that its so hard, and that you can hurt me so much... I know everything that you did, because you did it to me. God, Angel, I wish I wished you dead... but I don't. I can't!"

3.) Becoming, Part 2

After an entire season of Buffy/Angel tear-up moments, the season finale is Buffy/Angel drama at its best.

The evil Angel had performed a ritual to bring the end of the world... and the only way to stop it was for Buffy to sacrifice him into Acathla. At the last moment, though, Angel's soul was restored, and Buffy was forced to kill the man she loved. She kissed him, told him she loved him, killed him, and got on a bus to leave Sunnydale.

"I love you. Shh.. Don't worry about it. Close your eyes..."

2.) The Body

Buffy walks into her home to find her mother dead on the couch. Ironically, Joyce died of a brain tumor, not from a demon or a monster Buffy could fight. One of the most painful things to ever happen to Buffy and there was nothing she could do about it -- no one she could blame.

"Mom...Mom!....MOM!.....mommy?"

AND...

1.) Dead Things

Buffy's strange behavior after returning from the dead led her to believe she came back "wrong" or "different" in some way - which in her mind explained away her out of character behavior. After Tara did some testing on Buffy and explained Buffy was perfectly healthy and normal, Buffy fell apart, crying in Tara's lap.

One of the most heartbreaking moments in the series, Buffy realized she was acting out of control and couldn't even forgive herself (or let anyone else.) She was at her lowest point. Season 6 culminated in the lowest, saddest, and most depressed Buffy ever... someone I could completely identify with (and learn from, as ridiculous as that may sound.)

"Tell me I'm wrong, please...please don't forgive me, please..."

To me, Buffy was always more than a tv show. It was a lesson each week, something you could watch and learn from, see these characters who were made to be so real and watch them go through life. The show means so much to me, and always will.

Comments? Questions? Maybe I'm just insane...
