Cinematic Inevitability
There is something about a movies that compels a lot of people make assumptions about people they are speaking to.
Bore: "Have you seen Super Chicken 3 yet?"
Me: "No. Is it inevitable?"
One would think this would be a conversation stopper. But no, it isn't. It never is. The person who asks this question is always a fan and proponent of a movie that does not interest me in the least, and which I will never, ever watch in any imaginable circumstances. But this is only the beginning of the conversation. Or, actually of the monologue. It is a very draining experience...
What's up with "yet"?
