Notes
I've never read the books (no spoilers, please!) and thought the movie was hit and miss, mostly because of the inconsistent POV devices, but if anything that just made me want to vid it more. The themes of idealistic youth, class struggle, brutality, survival, and rebellion are all very powerful and very applicable to the current state of our world; so as a vidder you want to get in and explore that, and explore the characters. Or at least I do. I also felt like the "reality tv" aspect and how that reflects on us as a society and how we see ourselves was something that wasn't clearly explored in the movie.
As a vidder, it also doesn't hurt that's it's filmed in such a kinetic way - which, I think, actually works better for vids than for a movie.
The plan is to remaster this at some point with DVD footage, but at the live vidshow I kind of liked the meta level of using cam footage.
Lyrics:
We are ready for the siege
We are armed up to the teeth
Be careful how you live and breathe
Release what's broken underneath
How many times do you wanna die
How many ways
Do you wanna die
Do you feel safe again look over your shoulder
Very carefully look over your shoulder
We can laugh about it now
We hope everything works out
Be careful how you lick your wounds
Believe a change is coming soon
How many times do you wanna die
How many ways
Do you wanna die
Do you feel safe again look over your shoulder
Very carefully look over your shoulder
You used to do a little but a little won't fly
Right before you hit your prime
That's when we fell in love but not the first time
Can it please you still
Remain in your father's will
Or does it make you ill
Let us bruise their knees
We will aim straight for defeat
You will be relieved
So relieved So relieved
through the flood of desire
Feel the sparks from the friendly fire
Misery inspires
Your throat has been cut several times before
Never noticed the size of the flow
Make it be ignored
Do you feel safe again look over your shoulder
Carefully look over your shoulder
You said you believe it but believing won't fly
Right before you hit your prime
That's when we fell in love but not the first time
And when it's all over and you open your eyes
You'll see the room turned on its side
And you'll be lying by a note on the floor signed
The royal we
Love, the royal we
Hope you like the vid.
