If ice skating in Red Square isn't on your list of things to do one day, I suggest you add it. Totally great.

Mischa should arrive in an hour, joining me for week 2 of 2 in Moscow. (He missed his connection yesterday, so was stranded in New York...)

Thanks to nura who takes me everywhere, including the grocery story last night, so I can now make ( Read more... )

The snowstorm has fouled up airline schedules all over. I hope Mischa was, at least, stranded inside the terminal and not stuck on the plane for hours!

Yeah, he was stuck on the plane for hours, sitting at JFK, unable to taxi to the gate, watching his other flight leave.

I've never been stuck on a plane that long myself, but I have been delayed long enough to imagine the misery of it.

Of course LJ itself needs to remain non-political, but it does have a lot of potential clout. I wish there was a way you could throw your support behind the bills Senator Boxer and Rep. Thompson are talking about that would give airline passengers more rights. Testify at a congressional hearing? Fly only on those carriers that endorse those rights? Feature a feed of the Stranded Passengers blog in the LJ Spotlight?

Heck, anyone can set up the feed and suggest it be spotlighted. Perhaps that will be my revenge for sitting for four hours on the ground in a TWA plane all through a hot afternoon in Rome twenty years ago. (No a/c, but at least we had free soft drinks.)

It is so wonderful for someone of my age (nearly 60) to think of an American being able to visit Russia, go sightseeing and ice-staking on Red Square and enjoy the fellowship of Russians! Not so long ago, things were very different, to the detriment of everyone. Thanks to Brad for posting this and to Nura for the wonderful photographs. Just thinking about this makes me very happy!
