pointless vent

Bank of America is an evil institution. As of tomorrow, after 22 years, they will lose my business forever.

That is all.

oh boy do i have stories about this pisspoor bank.

#1 back in '98 i had an account with BofA, i went in and deposited my paycheck in person (the bank was right next to sees candy, where i was working at the time) this chick that handled the deposit was a trainee (i could tell, but i was nice about the whole thing). somehow she managed to deposit my check into my account while at the same time deactivating my atm card. i should mention at this point that it was friday afternoon and i was on my way out of town with the girl i was dating at the time to go to a rave in SF.

fast forward a few hours... we got bored of the rave so we're driving home... well she's driving home, i'm riding shotgun in her 1970's mercedes diesel. we get into fairfield and find out that my atm card doesnt work....at the gas station. we wound up stranded overnight and my mother drove down to fairfield to put gas in the car. i was so embarassed.

fast forward to monday after work....i go into the bank to find out what the hell's up and i get attitude. not just any attitude, ghetto black woman attitude (the kind of attitude where the woman puts her hand in my face and bobs her head like she's on someone's dashboard...'NO YOU DINT!') i closed my account on the spot.

some years later i need an account again (in '03) my mother convinces me to talk to the BofA branch in EDH because she and i both worked at the same place....right by there. i open an account and have no problems until about 06. i get a new job at ahern rentals and deposit my first check. should be no problem right? they give me a reciept that tells me how much i have in the account and i work with that number until the following week when i drop off the next check. for the first 3 weeks i get reciepts telling me that i have money in the account...fine. at the end of the month they retroactively hold 3 checks and charge me overdraft penalties in the amount of 40 bucks every time i used my card during that 3 weeks. big mac...2 bucks turns into big mac 42 bucks, etc. i find out that i am 6 grand in the hole. when i talk to their customer service rep on the phone about it i swear it's that same ghetto black woman from '98!

i promptly opened an account elsewhere, walked into the BofA that i normally went to, waited in line, got to the front, swiped my card and when the teller asked me what she could do for me i told her what the problem was and told her that BofA could blow me.

i felt really good walking out of there.

"BofA could blow me." I like that. I wish I had the balls to take that approach. But yeah, I've been with B of A for 22 years, and they unfairly took an assload of overdraft charges out of my account...and they seem more than happy to just close my account, rather than listening to me, and trying to make a 22-year customer happy....bastards...
