(no subject)
so, erin and i were chatting friday at the scene shop's last cookout of the year, and she asked if i ever post on livejournal anymore. which i haven't done all semester. i haven't even had time to sleep, usually. but, now i have time to sleep, but of course i decide to procrastinate on the work that i didn't do last week...and here i am.
the big things in my life right now (which most of you probably already know) are as follows:
-my one and only scene design for UNCG, "our lady of 121st street", opened last week. i'm pretty pleased with the outcome of the whole show... i know laura, matthew and i worked hard and i think it really shows for each of us. i just wish the show had been earlier in the semester so i didn't have to deal with it the ENTIRE DURATION of the spring...it definitely was the cause of a lot of stress, bitterness, and all-nighters. but it's over, and it was good, and i was pleased, so who can ask for more?
-i have jobs taken care of for the next year, which is nice. for the summer, i'll be master carpenter at shenandoah summer music theatre in winchester, virginia. then, in august, i'll be moving to baltimore to be the carpentry intern at center stage. which, by the way, i am completely stoked about (and surprised by, may i add).
so, that's my life for the next year. i'm excited to be moving away from greensboro, but i wish wholeheartedly that this semester had been less stressful so i could have enjoyed time with my friends. not even seeing the people you live with can grate on you after awhile...so, in closing, i'll do the "grownup" survey, since i guess i almost officially am one...oh me oh my.
1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
gas. it's so much more than all the others, but god would i have hated to live without it!!
2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
hmm...technically, jarrett and i had a nice little date at best diner on friday night, which is where we had our first date...i had cheesecake with strawberries. that's kind of romantic, right?
3. Last time you puked from drinking?
hmm...sometime in the last month or two, i'm sure. it's been happening too much lately...i'm really bad at mixing. "oh, that looks good....hmm, sounds tasty...ooh, let me try some of that..." it's a terrible plan.
4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar?
beej's 21st birthday. last and only. although, if you count other surfaces, i danced on a speaker in salamanca in february 2006. also with beej. i see a pattern...
6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
oh man...running around europe. all over.
7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
i wanted to write and illustrate my own books.
9. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
i just bought it and the color is pretty and it's super-comfy.

lame. thank god i won't have a car next year.

somewhere in the uk...i'd probably gank either jarrett or erica

it all depends. usually low-cut bikini or thong. the boycuts are freakishly comfortable as well.

16. What errand/chore do you despise?
i hate hate HATE raking leaves. and mowing. also not a big vacuumer. basically, i hate doing anything involving large ground areas.

sure. i'd really like to volunteer with habitat for humanity through americorps anyway. so technically it's work and volunteering at the same time. loophole!

20. Favorite NON sexual thing to do at night with a girl/guy?
jarrett and i just had a wonderful saturday night of beer, working on a puzzle, and watching movies. it was pretty swell. i'm also a big cuddling fan.

i used to think it would only happen once...i believe i've had it twice now.
22. When did you first start feeling old?
when my little brother went off to college this year. i still refuse to believe he drives. or ties his own shoes.

i was going to answer "say anything" but then i remembered "heathers." and anything that contains the line "fuck me gently with a chainsaw" gets my vote for favorite EVERYTHING.

lake. in the mountains. sometimes the beach...like the one in scarborough. but that's mostly because it's in scarborough.

not at all, but i do think it's not for everybody, and it's hardly the only way to live your life.

routinely? not really anybody. but if we're friends, i've probably stalked you once or twice just with a couple of curiosities.

man oh man do i have horrible taste in tv shows. i know they're bad but i just can't keep myself from watching them. america's next top model, any of those stupid real world/road rules challenges (those are the WORST), deal or no deal (which i do actually think is the stupidest game show ever to be invented--IT'S PURE LUCK. PURE. DUMB. LUCK.), what not to wear, project runway or any of those design competitions...
30. Favorite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about?
not that i wouldn't want anyone to find out about. maybe some cheesy musical-turned-movie...like "cats." i really really like "cats."
31. What's your drink?
it all depends on my mood for the night. in england, soco and lemonade was my favorite...but their lemonade is fizzy and delicious, not like ours. i tried making it here using lemon juice and sprite, but it just wasn't the same.

why do i have to choose? and what happened to 32-35? i was quiet about 8, 19, and 25, but this is getting ridiculous.
37. The Cosby Show or the Simpson's?
simpsons. i used to get in arguments with boyfriends in high school about whether simpsons or friends was funnier. if that were the question, i'd go with friends.
38. Worst relationship mistake that you wish you could take back?
the only mistake i've made is not getting out as quickly as i should have. i don't regret anything else, but i have definitely put myself through some unnecessary trauma over people who i knew, at the time, weren't worth it.
39. Do you like the person who sits directly across from you at work?
we'll find out, i guess.
40. If you could get away with it, who would you kill?
there's definitely one person i'd have kill...well, he doesn't have to die, but just a generally bad life would be good for him.

the guy that plays "jim" from "the office". i think he'd be fun. or dustin hoffman.

oh gosh, just one? i mean, edward norton, johnny depp, "jim" from "the office" if dinner went well, jude law, brad pitt (from the "fight club" days...actually get him and ed norton in a little tyler durden threesome...or would that still just be a twosome? hmm?)
43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
no, and i also haven't used it for unintended purposes either. which means i did not misbehave nearly enough as a child.

not counting plays...i think the last one i read all the way through was "twelve" by nick mcdonell. freakishly good for a 17 year old.
45. Do you have a teddy bear?
his name is "Bo-Bo" and i've had him since i was borned. he is so named because he had a big red bow but it got lost somewhere and now he just has a red nubbin. i was always very adament of the spelling of his name--Bo-Bo. you had to have the hyphen. i still sleep with him.
46. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
somewhere in the woods while camping, maybe? i generally don't carry a toothbrush around in my purse or anything, so the possibilities are kind of slim here.
47. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
i've already been to san francisco, monterey, and carmel and loved them. the big sur was pretty badass. i dunno, looking at will's pictures of "yosemite" kind of put that at the top of the list, since san fran is already off. i have no desire whatsoever to go to LA. at all.

when i'm home. i really like listening to my dad preach. he's so good at what he does.
49. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
a new career. if i had to pick a different direction right at this moment, i'd want to go to grad school in england and study art history, focusing on german and austrian art in the late 19th and early 20th century. secessionism, german expressionism, bauhaus...god i love that stuff.
50. If you could go back and do it all over again with the knowledge you have now, would you?
yeh, i would. would i get to change things though? like, use my knowledge to better my life? all in all, i really can't complain about my life at this point, and everything that's happened, good and bad, has helped me get here. so why not. plus, i'd get to go back to england, and that's what it's all about.
