Student Teaching

I am over half way done with student teaching.  I have just about a month and a half left, and I am bumming!  I can't believe it's going to be over so soon!  This has been the most amazing and rewarding part of college yet.  I really don't want it to be over.

The students are working pretty well, they have their days, but they're middle shcool, so it's typical.  Sixth grade is working on perspective drawing, seventh grade is finishing up their color studies and working on masks, and eighth grade is finishing up their color studies.  I have some eighth graders done with the color studies, so they're working with chalk for now as a filler assignment until next week.  I think I'll dive into watercolor next week with them.

My life is amazingly different now.  I go from 6:30 to 10:30 Monday through Friday.  After school each day I try to work on stuff for them.  The unit plan thing took me forever to get done for seventh grade, but it's all done now.  That was required by SVSU and it had to be a minimum of 10 lessons.  That's kind of hard for art, since each lesson is practically one project, so I had a lot of projects to come up with and then I made a study guide for it, too.  All day Sunday I work on stuff, too, usually example projects to show them.  As far as a social life goes, well, we all know I never had much of one to begin with, but I spend Saturdays with Lucas, and that's about it.  I don't get to do much else or see anyone else.

For jobs, I applied for a job in Bloomfield Hills a few weeks ago.  I got an E-mail back saying they would call me for an interview in April if they were interested in me.  I've been printing off applications from nearby schools and am working on my resume to send out with those.  This is a tough job market, and I really hope I can get one.
