Well, I was talking to my grandmother this morning about it (since I've been so upset about the situation) and she said that she hasn't been getting a lot of her mail... she was pissed because she knew she was supposed to have gotten more Christmas cards (LOL). Anyways, she thinks what may be responsible is whenever we moved up here last year, we got a mail-forwarding service for all of our mail from the old address. All of our mail is sent to this business who then, at the end of the month, sends it all up here in a big envelope. So she thinks maybe since the address down there is still listed as our official address, some of the mail that was supposed to come here may have accidentally gotten forwarded there.
Sorry that was so long, but what do you think? Maybe I should wait until they send that big chunk of mail up here? It's possible that it may be in there, I don't know!
You've got some good shows! I've got all the Lost seasons (since it's my fav). I don't watch too much anime, but I love the dark stuff. I've heard Death Note is really good!
Anyway, Merry Christmas!! Your icon is looking quite festive. I like it.
LOL, thank you! Joker likes to get in on the festivities.
Oooh I see...so it's been forwarded all over the place. Alright, in that case just let me know when you get the big envelope with all your mail sent to you. It should be coming in a week, right? But a week is a long time...god, this is SO stupid. Why can't they just mail it where it said it was supposed to be mailed?! I think someone at the post office deserves a Christmas beating.
God, I love death note. It's quite dark, and a lot like Dexter. Except, anime. It's pretty crazy sometimes too, and really dramatic. The main guy who's killing everyone, Light, is actually a bit of a shit. I don't like him at all, but the detective who's chasing him, L, he's awesome. He's so freaky and weird. The show's basically about the cat and mouse game between L and Light. If Dexter doesn't come and I have to send it out again, I'll send you Death Note too.
Speaking of festive Joker, my brother bought me the Batman Begins/Dark Knight bluray boxset!! Ooooh yeah!!
Yeah, I didn't even think about that until my grandma said she wasn't getting some of her mail either... So we'll see what happens! I don't know WHY she just doesn't officially change our address to where we are now. And yes, the post office definitely needs a holiday beat down, ugh.
Wow, Death Note does sound really good! God, I love weird stuff like that. I think most of the craziest stuff I have ever watched has been anime clips people have shown me.
Speaking of festive Joker, my brother bought me the Batman Begins/Dark Knight bluray boxset!! Ooooh yeah!!
Awesome! That's the perfect present- enjoy it! The bluray version looks so good. I had to rip the bluray version of TDK onto my laptop, just because of the quality being so much better; I can't even watch the standard version anymore.
Oh! And I found out that the name tag the Joker wears on the nurse uniform says "Nurse Hemming" as a nod to the film's costume designer Lindy Hemming. LOL, I thought you might want to know since everyone kept saying it had Matilda's name on it.
I think most of the craziest stuff I have ever watched has been anime clips people have shown me.
Yeah, anime is crazy. But that's why I like it. I think I'll have to send you Death Note soon, it's great. I really love showing people new shows. I gave the Death Note dvd's to my best friend on my birthday - so a week ago now - and she told me she'd watch them, and I literally called her every day saying have you watched it!? Anyway, she watched them today, and she's loving it.
Actually (I feel a bit of a ramble coming on here - sorry) another reason I love anime is because it's such a niche genre, the writers and the directors have no obligation to fulfill the audiences needs at all, unlike Heroes trying to constantly "better" itself by listening to the fans, and ending up even shitter. Obviously, it's different for bigger, long running animes like Bleach, but for the short running one shots like Death Note or Cowboy Bebop, its really apparent. I dunno if that makes sense to you...but it's like they are direct visions of whoever created that show, and are entirely uninfluenced by other people's opinions.
Oh! And I found out that the name tag the Joker wears on the nurse uniform says "Nurse Hemming" as a nod to the film's costume designer Lindy Hemming.
Y'know, I just watched it literally half an hour ago, I was watching so hard during that bit to see what it said!! Gosh, I'm so glad I know now, it was really pissing me of that I couldn't see it!!
Hope you had (or are having - I dunno how the time difference works) a great Christmas! :)
I really appreciate you telling me about all these shows :). I'm the first to admit I don't know too much about anime. Most of what I have seen is from when my younger sister was big into it back in the late 90's/early 2000's, so I'm sure a lot about it has changed since then. I totally get what you're saying about them having the freedom to create what they want without having to worry about outside opinions. They don't have to be concerned about ratings, or what's "appropriate", or anything like that. The sky is the limit when it comes to what they choose to create. I think if more shows were able to do that, television these days would be so much better.
Gosh, I'm so glad I know now, it was really pissing me of that I couldn't see it!!
It was bugging me so much! I literally watched it frame by frame and still couldn't see it. But I guess someone saw the outfit (maybe in a display?) and took a picture of the name tag. Some people still think there may have been multiple tags used for different takes, but at least we know one of them for sure.
Hope you had (or are having - I dunno how the time difference works) a great Christmas! :)
Thank you! I hope you had a great one, too. Ours was pretty boring, but sometimes boring is nice :).

Your younger sister? I have no idea how old your sister is, but she had to be around 10-15 at that time, right? I'm not sure, but I'm guessing she watched some of the tamer stuff. I used to watch Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon and all those childrens shows around that age, and the anime that I watch now is completely different. It's actually funny, Yu-gi-oh isn't actually that bad of a show, but they completely butchered it when they took it to America and cut out anything offensive or mildly violent. There's a massive company called 4Kids that do all the children's anime, and they completely fuck over the original Japanese versions and turn them into children-friendly saturday morning cartoons. I dunno if you've heard of something called [Adult Swim] - it takes over cartoon network at some point in the evening in America - they show more adult anime, stuff that hasn't been made by 4Kids and is close to the original Japanese as possible. I wish we had adult swim in the UK, but there's no channel in the UK that shows anime like adult swim does. There is one, but it airs from 1am-4am, which is ridiculous.
Gosh, I feel like I'm lecturing you about anime. LOL!! Sorry, hun!!
Ours was pretty boring, but sometimes boring is nice :).
My christmas was pretty boring too, but that's the way it should be! A nice boring day sat around with the family.
LOL, don't ever feel like you're lecturing me, I love learning more about this!
Yeah, my sister's about nine months older than you. I do remember most of the stuff she watched seemed pretty tame, but she had purchased some shows on video from some bookstore we lived by (this store had everything) that I remember thinking WHOA. Pretty sure my parents didn't fully research it before they bought it, lol.
I've heard of Adult Swim, but I don't watch it. I probably need to though, since nothing else seems to be on then! I remember flipping it on a few years ago, and a show called Paranoia Agent was on- that seemed like a pretty awesome show. But I think it was dubbed over with english actors, and I hate that! I like reading the subtitles!

LOL oh my god, your icon!! I literally laughed for a good 10 seconds at that shit. And it's like 4am, I think I woke my parents up.
Paranoia Agent is supposed to be really good actually. I've heard it's extremely confusing though. I dunno about the english dub, but to be honest I don't like watching with the original japanese and reading the subtitles. I just find it really difficult to pick out emotions in the voices, because I don't speak Japanese and I'm really not used to the rhythm of the speech or anything. Some older anime (like Akira) have really awful dubs, but most modern anime have a really good cast of american voice actors. Samurai Champloo is a good example - it's a anime that's influenced heavily by hip hop, american slang and american culture, but it's based in Edo peroid japan. It worked a shitload better in english than it did in japanese.
Has that parcel with all your mail from your old house arrived yet?

Hahahaha! Happy New Year!!!
I liked what I saw of Paranoia Agent. Granted, I only saw like 3 episodes or something, but I really enjoyed what little I saw! It's a very bizarre show.
Yeah, I think I'm just used to the subtitles because a few years ago, my family got obsessed with foreign horror films and most of them had either horrible dubbing or none at all. So it just became second nature to read the subtitles. Plus, I've got this whole weird mental thing where I hate how the words don't match up with their mouths. It distracts me! I'm sure that wouldn't even be an issue when it comes to anime, though.
