"Before you take that first cut, take a moment to think. Think of me, and maybe, learn from my mistake.
This first cut will fascinate you. The way blood will flow so easily. Maybe it's something you've considered doing for a while, maybe its just a spur of the moment decision. Either way, you've affected the rest of your life. You might only plan to do it that once, but trust me, it won't be long before you consider doing it again, and again. You'll become an expert at cutting in places that no one will ever see, and to a depth that hurts, but will never quite cause you serious harm. All the time saying to yourself, how you will never cut too deep.
You'll lie to your friends, your family, and the people you love. You'll never be able to see the harm your doing to yourself. When you look at your skin it will still look as perfectly smooth as it always has. But in reality its riddled with scars in places no one sees. That is until one day, when your not being so careful, and you don't realise you've done it until you cut down on your wrist. Nothing major, but before you know it your wearing long sleeved tops all year round. Suddenly its ok to spend all your money on buying bracelets, materials, and a whole new wardrobe to cover up. And when your hot, you have to think twice before you take that jumper off.
It wont be long before the first time you cut to deep. The day you've always been saying would never come has come. You'll probably be alone, in your room, or the bathroom, when you realise this time, the bleeding isn't going to stop. That you need stitches but your too ashamed to tell anyone. So you spend the night awake on the floor, pressing tissues after tissues against the wound, in a hope that by some miracle the bleeding will stop. The next day you have to wear a bandage to work, and pretend you hurt yourself somehow. But your arm is still bleeding, and the blood dries against the bandage, and all you can do is pray that it will stop and that your homemade stitches will be of use.
Of course by this point if your me, cutting seems almost pathetic. You've probably started carrying a blade around with you everywhere, if your like me, you'll even have one behind your phone cover, for those 'little emergencies'. Somewhere in the bottom of your bag you'll probably have a lighter. People will ask if your smoke, and really, you wish it were that simple. By now you've discovered other methods, that hurt much more.
The one cut that started this all off has become a hundred, and there isn't much skin left untouched. Life is becoming a lie, and your lucky to make it through one day without reaching for that blade.
You never thought it possible, but that one cut has turned into an addiction."
