Doll Hair Treatment

Well.. this is what I do in order
(took some of the tips from an American Girl's doll site)

1. Use rubbing alcohol on the entire body
(this is my own tip I discovered.)
It really does a good job of getting dirt off
and doesn't rub any paint off her face!

2. I use Woolite (must be non-concentrate) to shampoo hair.
get a pot of some sort and fill it with water.
then add i'll say a few table spoons of woolite to it.
saturate her hair in it for 15 mins.
rinse with cold water and only squeeze the hair.
(you can also use dish soap, wig and baby shampoo)

3. Do a Downy Dunk.
This is when you fill a tray (something like a casaroll dish) with Downy Fabric Softener.
You leave her hair in for an hour or so.

4. This is where I like to brush her hair.
(you should ONLY brush a dolls hair when wet.)
and it has to be a specific brush.
wig brushes work but I use an animal hair grooming brush.
it has small, metalic bristles which is ideal.

5. Rinse the hair by squeezing it out again..
and lay flat to dry on a towel.
(you might want to leave her hair in the way you want it to look dry
because it will stick straight up if you lay it that way)

6. also.. if it's frizzy.. you can do this:
buy a steamer (about $20) that has a plastic bottom.
I have a hand-held one which makes it easier.
lay the doll on an ironing board and
press the steamer DIRECTLY on the dolls hair and run it down.
pay attention that you don't singe her hair.
just keep lifting it off her hair after every stoke.
really get those frizzy ends too.

after this... your doll will be like new..
I've done this on all my dolls AND ponies.
