I hate it when you're reading an article in which the author has clearly gone to great lengths to ensure that his or her readers know that he or she is smarter than them. The one I'm reading now keeps using phrases like "inhibited motoricity" (describing a guy in a wheelchair), "visual hyperperception", "quintessential exemplum," and "nonconsenting exhibitionists." How ridiculous. Honestly. Just say what you're trying to say and be done with it, don't go to all this trouble. If your idea is good enough or novel enough, you'll be published. If it's crap, you won't, and all the fancy words in the world can't disguise the poor quality of your theory.
Egotistical jerks.
On a side note, I'm developing an obsession with Hitchcock films.
