4 day weekend

Jan 17, 2007 10:39

I had a four day weekend, Friday thru Monday, and got back to work Tuesday exhausted. Without even having my coat off back at work, I was bombarded by everyone-“Do you have this?” “Did that get done?” “Can you do this?” “I need that.” Chill people, chill. But anyways…

Ma is great, fun, loud-but I think it’s pretty safe to say that moving Steve to Phoenix is never gonna happen. I’m sure he can only take her in small doses. I don’t blame the guy, but I’m real glad I figured this out before I took a job out there and all that comes with it. She arrived in town late Tuesday night and apparently waking Steve up makes him a cranky boy for days. :-/ Friday morning the three of us went to the Northside to do some specialty shopping. Steve & Ma both loved Minnie’s for lunch, so the price was well worth it. A much-needed visit to LUSH was the highlight of my day. I <3 that place. We ended up coming into the Loop to hit up the Carson’s that was closing and to show Ma where I work. She’s so proud, I can tell. Steve, Ma & I each got a pair of shoes from the Carson’s closing, all super discounted. Shoes on sale=perfection. Back in the ‘burbs we met up with Bro for dinner before relaxing at home for a bit.

Friday night was midget bar night. Admittingly the midgets at the bar were overrated, but all who went had fun irregardless. When you have an awesome, fun, just-be-yourselves group of friends, you’re bound to have a great time no matter where you are. It dawned on me that most of my close friends are those who don’t necessarily live that close, and yet they are the ones that try to hang out, have the most fun, make me feel amazing and I can count on most. Thanks to you Indianas, Western Suburbanites, Northsiders, and City Folk for making it all worth it. I love you all and look forward to seeing one, some or all of you every chance we get. *hugs all around*

Saturday Ma, Steve, Bro & I went to see Wicked. Great! If you haven’t seen this play I recommend that you do. Take advantage of Chicago’s Theater District and spend the evening Downtown. You won’t regret any of it. Need somewhere to take a date? Go to a play! Need a gift for a family member? Get them theater tickets! You. Are. In. Chicago. Use. It.

Sunday isn’t worth writing about, really. Took Ma to Midway, saw a movie (Alpha Dog-JT is HOTTTTTT but the movie is just alright.), then went to Steve’s ‘rents for dinner.

Monday Steve & I took Bro & his pal to O’Hare. They’re going to continue their time with Ma by visiting PHX. Sonsofbitches just missed the freezing here. BBBrrrr…. Steve & I spent the rest of the day together, just being. I LOVE just being with him. I’ve missed it. I love that we can go from husband to lover to best friend and all the inbetween. He’s the best.  I expected to be super sad this day cuz Ma just left, Bro left and even my grandparents left for Mexico ‘til mid April. But I don’t feel like I’ve lost everyone. I have Steve to keep me company and care for me and that’s a great feeling. Hmmm… another great thing about married life.

And now back to work. I actually get to do something I’m really really good at AND got a degree in-RD AM 1300 Newsletter. I’m a nerd, I know.
