Bunches of more reviews!!! I'm begining to catch up on my testing finally! :)
ANTIQUE LACE: Nostalgia encapsulated. A soft, wistful blend of dry flowers, aged linens, and the faint breath of long-faded perfumes.
In Bottle: Sweet vanilla ice cream
On Skin: I have been dying to try this scent for over a year now… when people told me it smelled like cotton candy. Sadly, it does not, but it does smell delicious. It starts as super sweet vanilla ice cream… then the florals start to come forth. The florals are light and not overpowering (yay!). This scent is perfectly described by the word “nostalgia”. It’s comforting and aged… like looking through a box of old loved things. Very pretty and womanly.
TERPSICHORE: Terpsichore is the mother of the Sirens by Achelous, the River God. Bright, joyful and expressive, her scent is kinetically charged, graceful, and an inspiration to all dancers: vanilla and carnation with neroli, iris, stephanotis, sweet pea, apple blossom and palmarosa.
In Bottle: Carnation
On Skin: This starts out a bit “Alice” like on me… that’s the carnation and vanilla. But the neroli gives a nice exotic note, and the sweet pea, stephanotis and iris strengthen the floral side of it. The apple blossom is sweet and dry, not juicy. The palmarosa is a bit tart and compliments the carnation well. This is a very feminine scent that is full of energy and seems very bright. If you like strong florals but want something sweet and not so tart, try this scent.
CALLIOPE: Hers is the scent of creative inspiration, and it is a boon to writers, poets and arbitrators: lavender and bright mint with bergamot, verbena, thyme and a touch of sweet orange and warm almond.
In Bottle: Lavender and Mint
On Skin: Zing! This scent will wake you up. Super citrus and herbal mint. I can see why it is a boon for creative inspiration, because this scent will wake you up from whatever slump you’re in. The sweet orange seems strongest to me, with the herbal mint and thyme playing close second. The almond is a lighter note, in the background offering a sweet base. Wow, not something I’d wear but it would be nice to keep on hand for aromatherapy.
THALEIA: The Blooming One is the Goddess of Comedians and inspires creativity in wit and the joy and release we have in laughter. A vivacious, dazzling, merry scent: honey, ylang ylang, apricot, ciste, blood orange and gardenia with earthy, warm tonka.
In Bottle: Sweet apricot candy.
On Skin: This scent is purely delicious. It is so sweet! Honey is my favorite note and it’s strong here. It’s like an apricot honey syrup with light orange floral sugar sprinkled on top. I am a sucker for sweet scents, but usually if they’re too fruity they don’t seem like a “fragrance” to me. This one can easily be worn as perfume and not just a room fragrance like most apricot scents seem to me. It’s very young and girly, yet still beautiful and bright. It’s very light and doesn’t overwhelm. I’d love a bottle of this, but after about a half hour it completely fades… it has no staying power on me sadly.
MASQUERADE: A festive, dazzling blend, layered in mystery and intrigue. Patchouli, ambergris, carnation and orange blossom.
In Bottle: Patchouli
On Skin: Eek! Very strong patchouli, so it automatically turns me off. The florals are not sweet and actually seem a bit sharp. It seems very dark and almost smoky. I don’t think it fits it’s name, at least not what I would imagine Masquerade to be. Sorry, this scent just doesn’t work for me.
GLASGOW: The rich scent of wild blackberry breezing over gentle rosy heather.
In Bottle: Berries and a light floral.
On Skin: The berries are very strong. Sweet and purple… and very juicy. The heather is a soft floral that flows perfect with the berries. A very pretty innocent scent. It goes a little soapy on me after about 5 minutes, shich is nice and fresh and opens my eyes, but not really a perfume scent for me. After 10 minutes it’s a pure soapy ozone scent… hmmm… interesting…
LAUDANUM: The essence of the most debauched hunger encapsulated into a perfume. Desire beyond love, anguish beyond sanity. Nutmeg, sassafras, black poppy and myrrh.
In Bottle: Spicy myrrh.
On Skin: This is a sultry scent, dark and spicy. The myrrh has a nice incense layer, the sassafras gives a rootbeer note, and the nutmeg gives a very nice warm spice. The black poppy isn’t very strong.. I do get a “hunger” from this scent… a real hunger because now I’m starving!! It is so intriguing and mysterious… once you smell it you want to breathe in deeper. It’s unlike any scent I’ve ever smelled and I’m dying to see what others think of it on me. It is a little mors spicy than I normally like, but I’m willing to try it out.
PUMPKIN PATCH
PUMPKIN WITH POMEGRANATE #3
In Bottle: Sweet fruity pumpkin
On Skin: Very Fall-like… a perfect room scent. I love the juicyness of the pomegranate. The pumpkin smells like pie with a bit of spice. Very nice, my favorite.
PUMPKIN WITH SANDALWOOD AND ORRIS #4
In Bottle: Strong sweet and sandalwood
On Skin: The sandalwood is the strongest note. It is very dry and woody. The pumpkin is there, but not as sweet as normal. This scent seems more masculine and harsh. I’m not as fond of it.
PUMPKIN WITH COCOA, HAZLENUT AND WALNUT #2
In Bottle: Super sweet pumpkin and nutty
On Skin: This smells just like dessert. The pumkin is sweet, but the cocoa deepens it even further. It smells delicious! The hazlenut and walnut are light but still showing themselves. This smells like pumpkin pie drizzled with chocolate syrup and nuts. Use this as a room scent if you want to fool people you’ve been cooking. Tasty!
PUMPKIN WITH APPLE CIDER & MULLING SPICES #1:
In Bottle: Thanksgiving!
On Skin: The pumkin is softer here, while the apple cider is dominant. Having a nice slice of pumkin pie and a big mug of warmed spiced apple cider! I smell cloves and a light nutmeg. I would also like this as a room scent, so pretty!
PUMPKIN WITH 5 WOODS, ENGLISH IVY, & GALANGAL ROOT #5
In Bottle: Sharp woods
On Skin: This scent wakes you up with it’s sharpness. The pumpkin’s sweetness helps soften it but I still feel the woods are overpowering. It’s like a fireplace while you’re having Thanksgiving dinner.
ROSE CROSS: This is a holy oil, a representation of the triumph of spirit over matter: purest rose with sacred frankincense.
In Bottle: Pure red rose
On Skin: This is a dry red rose… taken even deeper with the beautiful note of frankincense. I generally don’t like rose scents, but this one is very beautiful. If someone around me had to wear rose, I’d ask them to wear this one. It is so full and lovely, and the incense sweetens and helps tame the tartness of the rose. All rose lovers must try this scent!
ONEIROI: Created to invoke the ancient Greek deities of dreams. On the shores of the ocean, somewhere in the West, they dwell behind their gates of horn and ivory. Soporific, dark, and unfathomable: a somnambular blend of deep lavender, white sandalwood, jasmine, bergamot and mugwort.
In Bottle: Lavender
On Skin: This is a sharp scent. Sadly, I haven’t been able to use any of the dream formulations because their scents just don’t appeal to me and I can’t sleep with pungent smells around me. I was hoping this one would be different, but no… the herbal notes overwhelm it with a medicinal smell. The sandalwood helps soften it a bit… maybe if I try diffusing it I could handle it.
BABA YAGA: This is an unreleased scent with no description yet
In Bottle: Sweet fruit
On Skin: Interesting! It’s a bit fruity and a bit soapy… very bright! I get a yellow tone from this. I like the scent, I don’t exactly picture it fitting with the Baba Yaga character… but it’s interesting to imagine. The fruit is a bit pineapple-ish, and the soapy ozone notes are coming from florals I think. I like that it is so clean smelling… but I generally like more sweet perfumey notes… If anyone wants a fresh soapy scent that is slightly floral and fruity, this would the perfect match!
LES INFORTUNES DE LA VERTU: A pain-tinged, pleasure-soaked blend of leather, oakmoss, orange blossom, amber, and rose with a breath of virginal French florals and a hint of austere monastic penitential incense.
In Bottle: Leather and amber
On Skin: Wow! This one is in your face. The leather is top note… very masculine and regal. The rose and florals give a nice sharp tone, very elegant. The amber darkens yet sweetens the scent at the same time. The incense provides a slight smoky note and I don’t really smell the orange blossom. This is a very manly scent. It does have a slight soapy/aftershave tone in it as well that enforce how masculine it is. I love this and am going to make my husband try it on for sure. The drydown continues to have leather as the dominant note with a soapy background.
EMBALMING FLUID: A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon.
In Bottle: Bright green tea
On Skin: This is a beautiful green tea scent. It is so light and bright… this would cheer most anyone up. The lemon is yellow and tart, the aloe is refreshing and the musk is soft yet warm. Not what I’d picture embalming fluid smelling like. I have actually smelled it before and it’s a very sour chemical smell. This is 1000 times prettier, don’t worry. I wouldn’t mind my body smelling like this when I was dead. Anyway, a beautiful scent that reminds me of the sun in spring. 3
BLOOD PEARL: Lustrous, sanguine, soft and lavish: soft orris, blood musk, and coconut.
In Bottle: Musk and coconut
On Skin: The coconut is strong… I smell suntan lotion right away. Very tropical and vacation like. The musk gives a nice sexy depth and the orris leaves a nice clean note. I’m happy this scent doesn’t smell fakely sweet like most Dragon’s blood scents. I would actually wear this one on vacation or whenever I wanted to pretend I was in Tahiti again. 3.5
NEW ORLEANS: Reminiscent of hothouse blooms on a humid night, ripe, but touched with decay. Sweet honeysuckle and jasmine with a hint of lemon and spice.
In Bottle: Overly ripe Flowers
On Skin: The jasmine and honeysuckle are super strong. This is a floral scent without a doubt. There is cinnamon and something else sweet yet spicy. The “decay” they mention is also there… these flowers are past their prime and rotting in the humid hot weather. This is a great scent to feel like you’re in New Orleans, but not a scent I’d like to wear as a perfume even though it does have a sexy appeal but in a more raunchy way. Very interesting! 3.5
SANTO DOMINGO: An exotic, sultry blend of tobacco leaf, bay rum and heady Caribbean blossoms.
In Bottle: Tobacco and some type of resin.
On Skin: This is a strong heady scent. It seems more masculine to me. The tobacco and bay rum remind me of another men’s cologne I’ve smelled before, but blossoms begin to develop and it becomes more festive. The rum isn’t too boozy which is nice. If I wore Blood Pearl, I’d love my husband to wear this, they’d go great together. Seriously, perfect vacation scents that transport you right to the islands.
