Naming Assistance Requested

May 27, 2006 14:47

I have just returned from the HSPCA where I adopted a companion for Dante, my chow/border collie/setter mix. She's a lovely girl, jet black but for a few sprinkles of white on her muzzle, and is very obviously a spaniel mix. She's completely fearless, bold, affectionate, and totally extroverted.

Here's where you guys come in. Her listed name is "Piper" and while it's certainly a nice enough name, I can't hear it without picturing Piper Laurie in the role of Carrie's uber-fundie psychotic mother in the movie version of the Stephen King book.

Beth has such lovely names for her artistic creations and I thought I'd poll the masses for input. I'm hopelessly addicted to BPAL so why not have a dog named after one of the oils? If at all possible, I'd like to keep the long "i" sound in the name but apart from that, the sky's the limit.

To aid in the naming suggestions, I'll share about the only decent picture I've been able to get of her. I swear, she's always in motion.

Edit: Here's Dante, who is already completely fascinated by his new little sister. He's easily twice her size and has prick ears.
