Sugar Skull 04 vs. Sugar Skull 05
It's the battle of the skulls! I know which skull I love the best. It's the '04 edition. I don't know if it's because it's aged a bit or if it's a different formulation than the 05 edition. I was extremely happy to be able to win a bottle of the 04 on ebay. (thanks shelldoo) I had a tiny bit I was using only on special occasions. Sugar Skull 04 is one of my "comfort scents." Now without further ado I will review them both for you. (as the crowd waits with breathless anticipation)
Sugar Skull 2004
In the Bottle
Waffles covered in sticky sweet maple syrup with creamy butter drizzled across the top. YUM!
Wet
Sweet sticky waffles. I can't stop sniffing my hand when I wear this. It's sugary and creamy at the same time.(if that makes sense)
Dry
Mellow and sweet. The ultimate blend for Foodies like me. I find it very comforting, similar to 2004 Sugar Cookie, which I love.(I didn't like the 2005 version)
Sugar Skull 2005
In the Bottle
Boozy fruit with burnt sugar underneath. It smells very different than it's older version. Not bad, just different.
Wet
Sweet booze. It doesn't smell all that fruity on my skin. Sugar Skull 2005 is an edgy more in your face blend than the 2004 version.
Dry
On dry down the booze fades leaving a nice sweet scent. It smells better dry than wet, but it is still nothing like the 2004.
Conclusions
I like both Sugar Skull 2004 and 2005, but the 2004 version will get much more love from me and will be a cherished part of my BPAL collection. I ain't letting a drop of this stuff go. :P
