I was organizing the collection today so I did some more testing and decided to post some reviews...
Sed non Satiata: A pounding heartbeat coalesced into scent: demonic passion and brutal sexuality manifested through myrrh, red patchouli, cognac, honey, and tuberose and geranium in a breathy, panting veil over the darkest body musk.
So I couldn't quite tell what I was smelling in the vial, but it was vaguely sweet and slightly Snake Oil-ish. So I swabbed a bit on my wrist, sniffed, and gagged. I got straight tuberose and geranium up my nose. I backed off and took a much more reasonable sniff. I got Snake Oil that smelled like it had gone running through flowers. It was a bit too sickly sweet, but had promise. So I let it dry and soften for awhile before sniffing again. This time I got the honey and myrrh instead of flowers. It took on a warm, sexy scent that really did remind me of Snake Oil only sweeter. However, there's still something a little off about the scent that just doesn't work with my nose. I don't think I'll be getting rid of the imp though.
Goona Goona: A soft, sweet peace and harmony blend. Used to create an atmosphere of compassion, understanding, trust and love. This is particularly useful in mediation, calming tense or volatile situations, and in strengthening relationships.
I decided to try this out on Thursday before going to work. Scent-wise it's a very soft rose scent. Rose and powder, but with something that smells almost like lavendar underneath. Not my type of scent, but I wanted to wear it for it's purpose not scent so I dabbed a bit on my stomach. I immediately felt calm. My shoulders relaxed and I felt like I could take on the world. Work was pretty crazy that day - politics, heavy workload, stress because of a coworker's sick child - but everything I faced seemed to become easier and calmer everytime I touched my stomach. It was like Goona Goona just knew when it was needed. I'm so, SO happy I have a good half bottle of this. I'm definitely going to keep it in my box for those tense situations when I need a little help.
King of Spades: The Queen's beloved, he is a modern representation of the tarot's Sword Knight. His authortative, keen and penetrating demeanor is a perfect compliment to her dagger-sharp beauty. Master of logic and reason, brave, fearless and stong, albeit a bit flamboyant and flashy. His scent is deep, swarthy, and darkly commanding, and compliments the Queen of Swords perfectly: oakmoss, vetiver and opoponax with black plum, wild blackberry, soft woods, sharp and glinting white musk under a soft, velvety robe of vanilla and coconut.
Oh wow. In the bottle I get plum and blackberry. It's one of the most fruit scents I've smelled, but it's not overpowering. It's subtle and sexy and gorgeous. On my skin it softens with the vanilla and musk, but it stays a fruit scent. The plum and blackberry are definitely in charge here. It is flamboyant and it is very obvious, but it's really not smack you in the face obvious. It's just this warm, gorgeous scent that I can't stop sniffing. Definitely happy with this one and I'm glad I got a bottle AND a shortie of it to have on hand for when I want that dark fruit scent.
Queen of Spades: A contemporary incarnation of the tarot’s Queen of Swords. A card of decisive action, strength of Will, progressive action, justice, and, sometimes, revenge. The scent is a sophisticated, deep, and smoky floral with a decidedly exotic spice. Moroccan myrrh and black amber, with muguet, opoponax, deep black plum, cyclamen, galbanum, and wild
blackberry softened by pear blossom and a swirl of exotic wood notes.
The Queen of Spades immediately appealed to me because of the myrrh, amber, plum, and blackberry. I got the King because I wanted the set mostly. But the King smells better on me than the Queen. That's not saying I don't like the Queen, but it's a much, much darker scent on my skin. It's definitely a scent that reminds me of revenge and would be something to wear when you want to come across as strong and powerful. I feel like I should be wearing big, black stompy boots when I have the Queen on.
Pandora: Charming, mischevious, and ultimately chaotic! An armoatic paen to discord. Lotus and gardenia spiked with mint.
This smells like minty, fruity bubblegum in the bottle. I can definitely say that lotus is the scent that goes bubblegum on me, not gardenia. But I like this a lot. It's sweet, but tempered by the mint. It's almost dry and woody at points. The three notes never seem to blend together, but instead whirl around each other. It's a chaotic scent that never smells the same each time I sniff my wrist. It's refreshing and fun and I love it!
Typhon: A fearsome creature from Greek lore. Typhon was born from the marriage of Earth and Hell, and is said
to be so terrible in aspect that even the gods themselves flee from his venomous gaze. Our own blend of Earth and Hell: red patchouli, sandalwood, black musk and vetiver.
This is a boy's scent - powerful and strong in the vial. It's a heady blend (and omg Chrissy if you tell Waryne I actually used that in a review, you are in SO much trouble) that could easily go too far over to being too strong. But I think the sandalwood is what balances it out. There's a dark sweetness to it that I think is vetiver. It goes a little powdery and for some reason I get the same feeling with this that I get when I wear Snake Oil - just sharper. It's so earthy and strong and yummy. I can't believe I love a scent like this so much. It's got staying power, but the throw isn't that strong. It's very much a me scent. I'm so glad I got this one too!
