[Multi] Reviews

And the reviews continue... I love doing them, my husband thinks I'm crazy, but they make my day, ok? :)

MILK MOON:May marks the apex of the year’s fertility, expresses the reawakening of the sexuality of the Earth and her inhabitants, and May’s full moon celebrates both the fecundity of the creatures and flora of this world and the vibrancy, rejuvenation and life-affirming energy of Spring. Milk Moon is its warmer, gentler cousin; it is a scent that emulates the closeness of child and mother. In it, cream and warm honey soften our traditional blend of lunar oils. (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Milk

On Skin: Obviously the first note is milk. It’s a little less sweet than Chaste Moon or Dana O’Shee, the milk has a stronger “milk” tone to it, creamy but also very *slightly* sour. I think the scent it most closely reminds me of is White Rabbit minus the tea note. It does make me thirsty for a cup of warm milk sweetened with honey, because that’s exactly what it smells like. Very relaxing, conforting and calming. I think it fits the description of “closeness of child and mother” perfectly… This is one of my favorite scents by far...
Milk Moon is the closest thing to a "scent hug" that you can get. :)

SKULD:Being. Ylang ylang, honey, Egyptian and Arabian musks and labdanum. (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Ylang ylang and honey

On Skin: The Ylang ylang stands out a bit too much in this one for me. I was hoping it would be more of a honey scent. The musks give a nice depth and sexiness to the scent and the sweet amberish scent of the labdanum is interesting as well. A very pretty, feminine scent that I wish had more honey in it. I did get a 5ml and I might experiment with layering it over “O”.

ROADHOUSE:Truck stop sleaze. Weedy dandelion and hops with a whiff of tobacco and hemp and a swirl of booziness.

In Bottle: Dandelion and wine.

On Skin: Hmm… maybe Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury? I’m not picturing Patrick Swayze here if you know what I mean… This is actually kind of menthol like… something clears my senses. I’m not smelling the tobacco… and I’m not sure what pure hops smell like, just beer? I don’t smell beer at all… I actually like this scent, but I’m not getting any truck stop sleaze from it… but then again, I’ve never been to a sleazy truck stop. This is a very green scent with the dandelion being the strongest note by far. Ok, now I smell a faint hint of tobacco (like in Hearth)… it’s sweet. Wow, this is one of the most interesting and well developed scents I’ve ever smelled. I can’t believe how many levels it has! Overall I’d say it’s a pretty scent, with a green feel and a slight boozy background.

TENOCHTITLAN: The greatest of all Aztec cities, and capital of their empire. Amber, hyssop, coriander, epazote, Mexican sage, prickly pear and Mexican tulip poppy. (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Cactus

On Skin: It smells like a fresh cut cactus, I watched a friend cook one and this is what I smelled (random I know, but true). Very sweet yet with a herbal spice. The sage is very strong, as is the coriander. This is a very green and planty smell, perfect for someone looking for a fresh, vibrant, live outdoorsy scent. Exotic and exciting, a gorgeous scent. And I'm not sure how to pronounce it. :)

AKUMA:Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry.

In Bottle: Raspberry mint.

On Skin: I smell something a bit minty in this scent. The raspberry is most obvious… and the blood orange is much more subtle and a little bitter. The neroli lends an exotic note in the background. It dries with a bit of a powdery scent. I like it, but the powderyness of it doesn’t agree with me, I was hoping it would be more vibrant and juicy.

JACK:The scent of warm, glowing jack o'lanterns on a warm autumn night: true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove.

In Bottle: Buttery yum.

On Skin: This smells exactly like the foody part of Halloween. Pumkin sweetened and spiced with nutmeg and clove. The peach sweetens it even more but gives a nice juicy balance. This smells like a kitchen after preparing for Halloween… baking cookies and pie, carving pumpkins, making mulled cider… yum! Very much a holiday scent that I’d love to use as a room fragrance, but not really as a body perfume.

AGLEA:Splendour. Three golden ambers, bright musk, peach wine and myrtle. (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Peach and wine.

On Skin: The peach is very light but still the dominant note. This is a graceful and pretty scent. The amber is very warm and the wine isn’t boozy at all, just full of berry sweetness. The myrtle offers a camphorous note. The only thing I don’t like is that it is so light, it fades very quickly. I do see this as gender neutral because the musk toughens and darkens it up a bit. I’d love to smell this on my husband.

AIZEN-MYOO: A bright, bittersweet scent honoring the Japanese Deity of Love and Passion. Aizen-Myoo is one of the vidyarajas, the Shingon’s Radiant Kings of Wisdom. Though Aizen-Myoo possesses the lust, grace and passion of both genders, he most often appears to his followers as male. His face is screwed into a fearsome demonic mask, but this is only the wrathful, fierce countenance he places over himself to guide and empower his children. Aizen-Myoo is the patron of prostitutes, of joyous, unbridled sexuality and of all forms of erotic love and is worshipped by all those in the sex industry, musicians, and - oddly - landlords. Yuzu, kaki, and mikan with cherry blossom and black tea.

In Bottle: Tea!

On Skin: Yes, the black tea note is strongest… it woke me up right away! A very interesting scent… very strong and in your face. The fruitiness of the kaki and mikan are beautiful and citrusy. The cherry blossom is light and adds a pleasant pink floral note. I didn’t like this in the bottle, but I’m warming up to it now. This is a nice spring scent, or even a room fragrance.

NEMESIS:The whip-wielding Goddess of Divine Retribution, Justice and Vengeance, and is the force that balances the scales of Tyche's fortune. She is also called Adrasteia, 'she whom none can escape', and Erinys, 'implacable'. Nemesis is the executrix of Olympian justice, and her primary duty is to punish hubris and mankind's offenses against the natural order with inflexible, remorseless and raging fury. Her symbols are a sword and scourge, a measuring rod and scales. Cypress, ginger, fig, dried rose, red patchouli, tonka bean and cyclamen. (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Cypress, rose and patchouli.

On Skin: The cypress gives a very green planty scent as does the cyclamen. The rose is also strong and a bit powdery. The patchouli gives it grit and almost a dirt scent… I’m not smelling anything sweet… no neither the fig or tonka bean which is off because fig usually jumps out at me. This scent is very incensy, which is not me, but it is exotic and interesting and would be quite beautiful on someone else.

HUNGER:Evokes sheer, unadulterated carnal lust. An undeniably warm and sensual scent. Black narcissus, orange blossoms, and vanilla. (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Very sweet, obviously the vanilla showing through.

On Skin: Vanilla, orange and floral. The orange blossoms and black narcissus are a beautiful floral combination. It is warm and pretty… but I don’t the feel of lust from it. After a few minutes it starts to smell a bit medicinal which doesn’t agree with me… I think it’s the florals turning odd… I was hoping the vanilla would even it out since vanilla is usually a solid base. I had my husband sniff it and he hated it, so off to the swaps it goes.

RA: Hail unto Thee who art Ra in Thy rising, even unto Thee who art Ra in Thy strength, who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the Uprising of the Sun. Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm. Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Night! (Gender neutral)

In Bottle: Herbal and incense.

On Skin: It starts with a woody incense note… very strong and a bit smoky. There is a herbal, spicy almost minty note as well. It is very masculine and strong. I’m not sure of the exact notes… maybe frankincense? I also smell a very light fruity note… either apricot or peach… Yes, much too smoky and incensey for me. Not my type of scent overall, but I would love to smell it on a man.

SACRED WHORE OF BABYLON: And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth. An ancient formula that inspires unrepentant decadence, lechery and debauch.

In Bottle: Dragon’s Milk

On Skin: Yeah, it has the play-do scent of Dragon’s Milk, which I also think of my husbands wonderful description of “urinal cake”. It’s like spicy Dragon’s Milk… which I'm sure many people would love. I think Dragon's Blood is forever lost on me now, which is sad since it seems so many people love it. It’s artificial smelling and gives me a headache.

scent: ra, scent: aizen-myoo, reviewer: slave1, lunacy: milk moon, scent: tenochtitlan, scent: nemesis, scent: sacred whore of babylon, scent: roadhouse, scent: aglaea, scent: skuld, scent: hunger, scent: jack, scent: akuma
