Owl to Bronte Lupin

Dearest Bronte,

My father, they say, is doing better. I can not judge his progress, as I haven't been here very long. However, I have never seen him look so pale before. It is frightening to see such a strong man look so weak. I told my mother about the soup and she said to thank you and Madame Pomfrey. Of course, that also led to questions about you. So, I told her. I hope that was alright. She seemed happy about it. She said to make sure I tell my father when he wakes up. That he will want to know how school and Quidditch are going also. But I have a feeling our conversations are going to always lead back to you, as you are always on my mind.

My brother has been strangely quiet since I have arrived. I have tried to get him to play games and things with me, but he just mumbles and wanders off. I wish he would talk to me. Our family has been through injuries before, none this serious, but still, it has never brought on such distress before. I wonder if there is something they haven't told me. That they are keeping from me.

I can't believe how much I miss you already. My mother would be surprised to know that my looks of misery are caused more from missing you, than worry for my father. That may sound terrible, but I am confident of my father's recovery.

Is it wrong for me to wish that you are just as lost without me?

I can't wait to be with you again.

I love you always,

Shane
