Work has been very busy of late, so before I dive deep into the well of seriousness, here're a few random personal notes:
* My old Creative MP3 player took a header into my gym's toilet, cutting short its long-but-productive life. I took a trip to Radio Shack and walked out with a
Sansa 4GB Rhapsody device. It took a little getting used to--it's so small! I also nearly got roped into subscribing to the Rhapsody music service, but the Sansa syncs with my Windows Media Player, so I kept my DRM exposure to a minimum. It's a neat little player, and the 4GB limit is enough for my gym needs. I may buy a larger player to use as a backup storage device in the summer. (Yes, I know Windows Media is sick with the DRM, but the devil you know and all that...)
* The new gym is going great. I've noticed a distinct trimming of the fat around my obliques, chin, arms, etc. The downside is that I shuffle around like an old man for hours after some of those treadmill sessions. ;) But it's worth it. ;)
* Bendis-haters, take note: One issue of "Mighty Avengers" completely defeated seven(!) issues of Meltzer's "Justice League of America." Brad, just put the Geo-Force fanwank script away and go back to writing the potboilers. "New Avengers" has also been excellent. I also succumbed and bought "Captain America" #25, and it was a great ride--but I'm even more convinced that he isn't dead. C'mon, they cut away before the actual last breath. He's in some kind of coma, or got body-switched. I'm not buying it.
* Comics lovers might also enjoy Lance Mannion's
thoughts on the "Iron Man" movie and TBogg's
reading the Marvel Encyclopedia.
* There's no Requiem tonight and it's the last day of the nice weather before it gets cold and rainy again, so I'm gonna hit
Qo'noS tonight after "Supernatural." (The first person who figures out my intentional misspelling gets a cookie.)
* Finally, my only comment about last night's "Lost" is that Emilie de Ravin was incredibly fetching as
Goth N' Go Claire. That black hair did wonders for her baby blues, just as the episode returned her to being a character of some depth besides being a baby mama and Charlie's love interest.
