like these:
I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq . It disgust sme that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of ou rcountry lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have….
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliverof light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq .”
We’d be calling him “Mr. President.” And you know what the worst part is?
He’s absolutely right.
The Army is being forced to take the lowest-scoring individuals possible and offering them incredible bonuses just to sign on the dotted line. Our troops are overstretched, undertrained, and being thrown into battlezones with faulty gear, no backing, no plan, and no hope of seeing a clear victory or even a clear purpose for being in war. So who’s insulting whom?
Here’s a nice list reminding you of how
the GOP cuts and runs when it comes to actual military service. For these people to slam John Kerry-AGAIN-for something they themselves have continually failed to live up to is the height of hypocrisy.
Larry told me that he was so impressed by Kerry’s comments that he wrote his office and thanked him. I intend to do the same. If you believe that our soldiers deserve real leadership and someone who speaks the truth about the quagmire they’re trapped in, you should do the same as well.
And for the record, I used to work at Walter Reed. I used to see people every day-kids, really-with no legs, no eyes, no arms, in wheelchairs, covered in burns. Why? For WMDs that never existed? For a government and people that hate us and don’t want us there? For oil? For the dream of empire?
Who’s insulting whom? The decorated Vietnam veteran who’s been through war and knows how terrible it is? Or the
miserable failure who will
say and do anything to maintain power for his cronies?
I would never ask anyone to sacrifice something I wouldn’t sacrifice myself. I don’t believe in this war, and if I’m not willing to fight it, I’ll be damned if I demand some kid from the sticks do it for me. For scum like Bush and his circle to slag Kerry for speaking the truth about sacrifice is reprehensible in the utmost.
