For the last few years, you've heard me talk about my friends and pals from Big Monkey Comics, the local comics store in DC. How we would get together each Wednesday, share stories, talk trash about whatever comic sucked that week, and eventually became a strong group of friends.
That friendship hasn't ended--at least not for me. But the association with Big Monkey Comics has.
Devon Sanders, owner of
Seven Hells, a great comics aficionado, and an all-round good guy, is
no longer at the store. As he goes, so do I, and
I'm not going alone.
This probably won't mean anything to the majority of my readers, and that's fine. But for those of you who live in DC and like comics, take my advice--don't shop at BMC anymore. There're plenty of other places in the DC region to get your comics fix.
I do my best to patronize and support only those businesses that treat their employees well and pursue their goals ethically and honorably. BMC no longer fits that standard, so they don't get my money. It makes me sad to say this, but this is how it is. Friendship is more important than convenience, and loyalty matters more than business.
See you at
