Welcome to my virtual pub...

Do sit down. How about a glass of Guinness?

Here you are.   ....    Cheers!

'Cause the situation is well, virtual, lemme start the conversation off by quoting myself plus two earlier comments to my blog about teaching music to kids and adults.

Me : Unfortunately, I can't play a musical instrument and my voice is only good for yelling... Okay, maybe something could be done about my singing, but I was humiliated enough as a kid that I don't want to sing in front of others anymore. I did a couple of years of folk dancing and I loved it, but not being able to sing even a single line of solo was a problem.
I'm somewhat angry at my parents that they did not insist on some music classes. I started taking piano classes in 4th or 5th grade, but the teacher left the school and we did not look for another place or teacher. Now I'm thinking of learning to play something together with my kids. Piano is said to be a great base for kids, but I'm more interested in the guitar. We shall see :)

insanitycase  : As a music teacher, I would back up the assertion that piano is the best base, not just for kids, but for everyone. Also, parents don't often realize it but their children's hands aren't developed enough to have command of a guitar until they're about 12. Just my two cents! That said, I think that people shouldn't be limited to what's "best", music-wise -- grab what you like and go for it!

jules_perox :Love your friends 'As a music teacher' comments. Makes really interesting and controversial reading!
We obviously need a Virtual Pub for a Virtual pint of Guiness and a very real discussion on this!!!

There you go Mr Perox! And whoever else feels like chiming in, don't hesitate!

friends, music
