I suppose that this was the tri-annual "mother-daughter day" of the Ryan household. Surprisingly, we got through it without too many arguments, which was nice. But that was probably because we weren't shopping. For clothes, at least. We were shopping for my niece and nephew, as well as her great-nephew, for Christmas. So we spent about an hour at Barnes & Nobles, and I can think of worse ways to spend that amount of time. I saw Alyse and Robert there, and that was cool, if a little awkward, as well as Ren and Moo. They're so funny. I love them to death. After we got out of Barnes & Nobles, which was more due to me dragging my feet than anything else (hey, I was enthralled by the Studs 'N Spurs calendar...mmmm.....), we went to see Pride & Prejudice. It was amazing. The scenery was beautiful, the acting was great, the casting was perfect, and the chemistry was dead-on. As you can tell, I loved it. I loved how they didn't dress Keira Knightley up at all. If they had, it wouldn't have conveyed the fact that Mr. Darcy loved her for her, and not her body. Although he makes that point perfectly clear with his remark about her not being "handsome" enough to tempt him. The writers did an excellent job of making the book work as a movie. They put in the perfect amount of humor, too. The mothers and sisters were almost too exasperating, but still loveable. And of course, Judi Dench does her uppity, corset-laced-slightly-too-tightly thing that we always love her for. And Mr. Matthew MacFadyen, well, whoooooboy. That's all I have to say. See it yourself and tell me what you think. This one, once it comes out on DVD, will be a must-own. ::sighs...:: Great movie. Go see it.
I can't believe Christmas is less than a month away. ::freaks out:: Most of my presents for my school friends have to be done before the 8th. Aaaaah. Luckily, I'm doing a generic gift for most. I'm giving them mini stockings with candy, personalized shot glases, and ornaments in them. Oh, and $1 scratchers. Hehe.
My core presentation has to be done before Monday at 9:30 am, but luckily my paper doesn't have to be due until Friday. I think I can just BS my way through my presentation. Shit...finals start in one week and 2 days. Where has the quarter gone? I knew it would go fast, but not THIS fast. This is ridiculous. Oh well. I'm looking forward to my month off. I get to visit people, like Kyle and (hopefully) Sonja. And I get to hear George play me his new song when I get back, and I'm totally excited about that. And...I dunno. Visit more people that I don't normally get to see. And see movies. And hopefully make some money. Reminder to self: Call Jody about babysitting! Rrrr....where is my night owl buddy?!
