I've just spent a very pleasant few days in Amsterdam. It was the weekend of the Pride event and its quite a funky one cos the parade takes place along the river and canals. It was my first time in Amsterdam and I loved the place. After just a few hours I could see myself living there and its the first time Ive felt that since getting to know Bristol.

We didn't bother with the touristy stuff like the museums, instead we bar hopped for most of the time. I also visited one or two coffee shops. Its extremely funky being able to just wander in and pick up something to smoke. I wish this country was like that, alas I can't see it happening. Amsterdam is just chilled in lots of ways. I think it comes from WWII when the country was captured by the Nazis. Holland has since really paid attention to liberty which is why it doesnt just tolerate its gay community, but its actually proud of it.
