"Ti~im!" Their conversation at the picnic totally meant that they weren't avoiding one another anymore, or so Karla decided. Even though she still thought Tim was dead wrong and overly judgey about what happened to the maenad--and was aware that he probably thought something similar about her--that wasn't going to stop her from dropping by for a visit, especially since she was already up on the fifth floor visiting Sookie.

She lounged in his doorway with a smile. "See, that's why I did my homework at 'Dite's today. Evenings are for socializing."

"Hey, Karla," Tim smiled. "Maybe I should get a job so I have more study time."

"I'm sure I could put in a good word with 'Dite," Karla offered with her most innocent expression. "Wednesdays or Fridays could be yours for the asking."

"That's okay," Tim said quickly. "I don't think I need a job that badly."

Karla pouted, still in the doorway. "But we could be coworkers!" she protested. "We could get together and plan displays and sales and things."

Not that she ever did those things with Raven. But it was funny to suggest them to Tim.

"Not going to happen," Tim said. "Upon consideration, it might be better just to study at the library or at the Perk."

"Pshaw," Karla waved that logic away. "My idea is much more fun."

Which, like most of Karla's ideas, could immediately be classified as 'bad.'

"Your ideas scare me," Tim said. "How is the job, by the way? No more weird outfits?"

"No, thank the Darkness," Karla said, leaning against his door. "She's actually cut down on most of the more, umm, explicit stuff after all that and now mostly buys romantic, relationshippy stuff. I'm very okay with both of those."

"Good," Tim said. "I mean, nothing wrong with the other kind of stuff, but it didn't seem like a very happy place to work."

"Not that week," Karla said with a moue of distaste. "But 'Dite was going through a...thing, then. It's fixed now. For good, hopefully."

And if it wasn't for good, Karla would just walk. Friendship and loyalty got her through that shift. It wouldn't get her through another.

"Good," Tim said. "You can always call me if you need help, too."

"Can I call you if I need help with something inside the store?" Karla asked impishly.

"If you need help, I'll be there," Tim told her.

Karla smiled at him, dropping the teasing. "I know," she said, dropping the teasing. "And I feel better for it."

Tim just seemed to get the whole 'defend and protect' thing. It was warm and familiar, getting that from him.

"Good," Tim said. "You know, that's true even if we're fighting."
