The only thing positive I know to say about Obama is what he says about our place on this globe in the realms of science and technology and what he says he wants to do about it.

And how is he, going to change that? From where I sit, we do pretty darn good considering we ALSO provide a large portion of the globe with peace keeping forces AND with defense resources for those nations which exceed us in the areas that we are deficient.

The UK is a perfect example of this. They've had decades of socialism of the likes which Sen Obama is selling. They're about to more or less scrap the Royal Navy (Australia is going to have more Tons and More hulls in the water) and they've had serious problems with their heavy and medium industry for years.

As far as VPs go, I haven't had an opportunity to read up on Biden yet. I've been given a few issues to read up on, but I sure know I don't want a VP who is a creationist, anti pro-choice, abstinence only education supporting, and unaware of this country's history. All around seems to support ignorance.

So, during the past 7 years of Bush's presidency, with a largely conservative supreme court, a conservative president and a conservative congress for part of that time, what limits have wee seen placed on reproductive rights?

Are we seeing doctors thrown in jail for administering Birth Control or abortions? Are we seeing women thrown in jail for possessing unlicensed birth control pills?

I'm a libertarian, gun owning, atheist who likes my free speech and likes my life left alone by the government as much as possible. I have to do MORE gyrations to comply with byzantine laws up in the North East where things are "liberal" (doesn't liberal mean permissive?) than I do in the South. Sen Obama scares me a HELL of a lot more than McCain and Palin do. From a position of the pendulum, the issues that I care about are more out of balance on the Obama initiative side than they are on the McCain side.

Yes, we have sat on top of the science and technology fields for long stretches of time, but we're falling behind.

I think we also stick our noses in places we shouldn't.

None, and I never said this upcoming administration would do anything either. I stated a preference of not wanting a VP who holds those position. I do not want someone in office who thinks those things are okay.

"Liberal" has been twisted and mangled and hasn't held its true meaning in decades.

Neither candidate "scare" me.

What's funny I cannot recall one time of Obama saying anything about Nuclear power in any of his "energy" speeches.

And a lot of those proposals for efficiency increases have some serious implications. For example, increasing building energy efficiency by 50%. My house was built in 1953. Am I going to be required to fix it's energy efficiency issues? Am I going to have to comply or be fined/evicted? Or am I going to be improving it as I can and need to based on my own costs?

Here's a question. Do you think we should implement federal policy on science issues based on sound engineering and proper thought and research? Do you think convictions based on violations of law which have technical issues and details should be based upon sound mechanical analysis and review of engineering data?

Anyone who vocally states that he wants to implement the "fairness doctrine" is stating a desire to tread on all sorts of constitutional protections.
