I loved the prompt when I read it and am so happy somebody actually wrote it.
Such a heartbreaking peace, both for Sam and Dean. For Dean because of what happened to him and for Sam losing the innocence he still had.
It would also be interesting to see Sam read the scene in S4 where the Rugaru asks them if they were ever really hungry and Sam answers with No and Dean with Yes

It would, wouldn't it? Those books are a treasure trove of secrets. Thank you so much fore reading!

I'd say I'm sorry I made you cry, but as a fledgling writer? I TOTALLY LOVE I MADE YOU CRY. <3

*hands you tissues and cookies in apology*

Thank you!

You tell him Sammy!

More please! This is fantastic. Everyone might think I'm nuts but I can't help thinking that this might be canon. Maybe not to this extreme, but I think John might have gotten just too drunk a few times and things went too far. I also think that John... Well, he used Dean in ways that he shouldn't have. Forced things on his shoulders that no child or teen is prepared for. It might not be straight up physical abuse, but it's taxing just the same. And I have a feeling it's the majority of the reason for Dean's horrible state in self esteem and self worth.

I do hope you write more of this. I really want to see Sam work on Dean about this. They are both so in character - both Sam's outrage and Dean's inability to hold a grudge (I won't say forgiveness because that's really not what Dean's saying here). So complicated and angsty and beautiful.

Thank you so much! I don't think John actually hit Dean, but loading all of that burden onto a very small child is a form of abuse, even when the kid doesn't see it as abuse. IMO.

Oh, this is awesome! It's exactly the kind of low key angst I was hoping for. Thank you so much!

It gave me a perfect excuse to re-watch Chuck-centered episodes to get a feel for his voice, which was a bonus (I love Chuck). Thank you!!
