it went so well!!
first of all, the class was small, much smaller than most of the classes i am in. everyone seemed like they genuinely wanted to be there, and everyone was silent and attentive... not only when we played music, but also when we talked. people actually asked questions! and the best part was that the guy who performed and spoke with me was NOT a student, just a friend of My English Teachers. as it turned out, we actually know a lot of the same people. i was confident, articulate, funny and intelligent and i believe i accurately spoke about my songwriting process without rambling, getting off track or stumbling over words. and the best part: the class loved it. the two of us worked well together; neither of us considered ourselves particularly accomplished guitarists or singers. and though he considers himself a poet which i certainly do not, we did write about similar subject matter: break-ups. overall the whole thing was great. we discussed the structure and content of the lyrics, talked about how we write, whether its music or lyrics first, and we talked about love.
she asked us to come do it again next semester! and we will probably do it for as long as i am around in this town! awesome!
even the guy who looked like the biggest redneck in the room said "that was beautiful" when i finished my first song.
i was shaking. i wish i could have sneaked a beer in to calm my nerves...
next agenda (in no order of importance):
1. making stenciled t shirts for the band
2. prepare for show in knoxville
3. papers for english, history, and social psychology due next week
4. write outline for skit to be performed saturday night at no-shame theatre
5. take bobo to the vet
oh..
and the best news, the best news ever, is that i studied for a test in history, i made a color coded guide, and i fucking got a 104% on it. hell yeah. seriously, the class average was a 70. fuck yeah.
