I know, I know...I go against my word.

Surprisingly; after the rocket had hit the Obliterator, sent him flying through the air into the marching troops as a huge fireball and the Melrose citizens had emerged from their hiding places, the Empire troops did not counter attack. They panicked, quickly hurried to try and regain some group and morale, and then when they had mostly gotten back into formation, only stood there aiming their Judges at the Melrose army. In rebuttal, the Melrose citizens stood there aiming their own Judges and guns at the Empire army. It was a stand off, waiting for an order to fire. The cars that the Melrose citizens had taken were now there, behind the troops. They had been covered in spare metal pieces to protect from bullets and formatted with Judges. One specific one, Jen’s Aston Martin, had taken the rocket launcher from the Obliterator that they had defeated the day before and placed it on the roof of the car.

Melrose was well prepared for this battle.

In front of the Melrose army stood the twelve teenagers, all aiming their weapons at the Empire troops. They were the leaders of the army and dared not hide it, thus by standing in front. Ian and Sam stood in the middle while their friends from their worlds lined up on the sides of them. They stood ready.

The rain fell lighter now, making it easier to see. Ian’s eyes stared at each Empire trooper standing there; they’re Judge transfixed on him and his friends. Yet they did not fire. Why? Ian thought. He kept watching until he saw one of the troopers coming from the back start walking forwards towards them. His eyes did their best to adjust to the rain but there was no telling who the soldier was. He came to the front of the line. His armor was different from the others; it had blue stripes all around on it. This must be a general. Ian thought. The man stood there for a moment with no weapon aimed at the Melrose army, with his arms crossed. Then he reached up and pulled his helmet off.

Ian felt his muscles tense up as the helmet moved away and revealed General Rudin, with a wicked smile painted on his face. He dropped the helmet on the ground, letting the rain gather in it. He raised his hands to the sky and looked up, his eyes closed as he enjoyed the rain falling down.

“Isn’t it amazing how similar our worlds are? How much the rain feels exactly like our rain back in our world?” He asked, bellowing above the pouring water droplets. “It almost makes me homesick. Doesn’t it you?” He said, dropping his arms and looking at Ian. “You have quite an army here, boy. You’ve done really well. You’ve managed to survive capture, you managed to successfully capture one of our Valor Captains, you killed an Obliterator, and you made friends with people from this world. You even managed to save your best friend from our clutches.” He said, turning his head slowly to Jeff, who sneered. “You’re very much Garret’s brother and more. Why do you all fight against us with such power when you can use it to help us prosper? Look at your friends from this world; they are not like you. They haven’t had to deal with the hardships and fight for survival like you have. Why help them? Why not join us and show them what it feels like to fight for their lives?”

Ian, Liza, Natalie, Jeff, Samfa and Jen all froze in their places. They looked around, at their friends from this world. Looked into their faces, into their eyes. Ian looked at Sam, who stared back in worry. Ian’s face did not show any emotion. He slowly turned his vision back to Rudin.

“We fight you because we want vengeance for the way you made our lives. We fight you because although we had to go through troubles and strife, we don’t thank you for it because we didn’t deserve it. We fight you because these people from this world don’t deserve to deal with the pain we have had to feel. That’s why we will fight and will continue to fight you until you have come to your end.” Ian said. His friends nodded their heads in agreement.

“You’re a fool, boy. Can’t you see them for what they are? They aren’t humans like us; they’re monsters. They are not like us in the least bit. They deserve to feel pain!”

“No!” Natalie spoke up. “If anyone’s the monster here, it’s you and your Empire. You kill and conquer innocent people just to make yourselves feel stronger. You’re the monsters, not them!”

“That’s why they deserve to live and you don’t. That’s why we’re going to win and you’re going to lose.” Jeff said, confidently.

“We’ve embraced each other, not fought each other. We’re the real connection between our two worlds.” Jen said.

“Even if we are different, we still have many aspects that are in common.” Samfa said.

“And the biggest thing we have in common is we all hate you!” Liza said, raising her hand. Everyone behind her raised their hands as well in cheer. The teens from Melrose looked among their other world friends and couldn’t help but smile at their courage.

“You won’t make it past here alive. My army will stop you and you’ll never get to the gateway. And I warn you now, we will take no prisoners.” Rudin said, his face red with anger.

“We don’t ask for any courtesy from you.” Sam said

Rudin was steaming, ready to explode with rage. But he quickly shook it off and put in his same evil smile. But this time, it had even more bitterness and wickedness in it. “If you do manage to make it past these troops alive, I’ll be waiting in there for you.” He said and he pointed to the building. “If you want to get back to our world, you’ll have to make it past me.” He turned and started walking back fast. “All front lines disengage gunfire and prepare to attack at close-quarters. Back line; take up shooting positions near the building. All Obliterators prepare to attack at close-quarters as well!” And he was gone, disappearing behind the troops moving into attack position.

The Melrose army stood watching as the Empire army followed Rudin’s orders, falling into position. Ian raised his left hand. “Everyone in the front lines, get ready to attack with the blades on your Judges. Car unit, take up firing position behind us. And any troops behind the cars use your Judges to snipe any of their shooters if you can.” Everyone moved quickly, changing their holds on the Judges or moving quickly behind the cover of the armor plated cars. Paula and Natalie fell back to the cars to prepare for shooting positions. Jen ran back to get into her car. The rest of the teenagers switched their holds around on the Judges so they could be used as swords.

The armies stood still, staring at each other while both ready to attack. They all stared at each other. Silence returned except for the pouring rain.

“Charge!!!” Everyone heard from behind the Empire army. Immediately, the Empire army sprung into a full out attack.

“Let’s go!” Ian yelled as he charged forward, leading the army ahead. Both armies charged towards each other, war cries filling the air. Ian held his blade tight as he saw the two leading Empire troops running right at him. He saw out of the corner of his eye that Sam was right beside him. He prepared his arms to swing as they got closer. Twenty feet.
Fifteen. Ten. Five. Everyone got ready.

Then they clashed.
