but the sarcasm needs dusting. 1.5 years later, I'd thought I'd open this page to see if livejournal still maintained it. I wasn't worried. Some things have changed since then. Ipek has since gotten a temporary residence permit and we've gone to the new country twice. Once to KC and another time to SF. We'll probably go back to KC the next time. Also, I've started a new job with the ISTEK Foundation in Istanbul. I'm teaching high school students in Florya, out by the airport. It can be hell, but the benefits are great. One of said benefits is the apartment. I no longer live in pristine Mecidiyekoy, now we live in Atakoy and we don't have to share the place. We've been here for 5 months now and it's a much calmer life. We have a cat, Misir, and lots of IKEA furniture.
I'll probably stay with ISTEK for another year after this and then, I'm not sure. Ipek has lots of opportunities and we wanna catch those, so we'll stay until 2010 at least. After that? still no idea. I sent my resume to a few hotels in the city. I was most happy working at the Eldridge so if there's possibility there, I want to check it out. Misha came to Istanbul for New Year's and he encouraged me.
One of the other teachers has Rock Band on Wii and that's how I've wasted a lot of time lately. My other guilty pleasure is 'Flight of the Conchords'. Chad told me about it. I bought season 1 on dvd in SF and nothing else has taken its place in our dvd player. it's brilliant. How are you wasting your time? a list.
