It's been 3 years since Jeff has gotten into a car accident. While riding his motorcycle, Jeff was hit by a car that ran a red light. Three years ago, he came out of the hospital alive. We prayed to about 5 different gods, thanking them for Jeff's health

Don't be mad at yourself though! I think you're crying now because the reality of the situation is more real. Before you might have hoped that things were going to get better, so what would be the reason to cry then? You pointed out that you were optimistic, so if you were to cry before, it would indicate that you lacked that optimism. You wanted to be hopeful. For the doctors to basically confirm the inevitable, it becomes more real and hits you hard. Your reaction is entirely appropriate. Perhaps you've been pushing the emotion away to not face the reality, but at this point it all came to the surface.

I suppose. That's true, I guess. I always thought that I was oddly cold, but maybe I was just a bit too optimistic?
