The Brittas Empire
Hi, I'm new and I've been a bit nervous about posting... mainly because no one ever has any clue what I'm on about...
What I've been into lately is The Brittas Empire. Specifically Tim and Gavin, two of the secondary characters. They're a couple. The show's only PG so not much ever happens, plus it was made in the early 90s, so I'm actually quite surprised that they had an established gay couple in it at all, and that they're not actually stereotyped. So, I come bearing pictures!
Tim and Gavin are out, but cautious. So they never tell their boss, Mr Brittas, that they're gay. Not that they usually deliberately hide it (other than just not talking about it blatantly when he's there) but, he's really very oblivious, and assumes they're best friends and room mates. The show is a slapstick comedy britcom thing, about a man called Mr Brittas who runs a leisure centre, and stuffs everything up all the time.
Tim and Gavin. I love how the actors did their characters, it was brilliant. How they'd be sitting 'slightly touching' or whatever.
You'll just have to trust me with this one: They're holding hands under the table. It was impossible to get a screenshot of it, according to my friend who took these pictures. And yes, they're wearing makeup in this bit... they got snowed into the leisure centre, and found a thingy full of costumes and props and makeup and stuff, for a period movie... and so they were all bored and decided to dress up. We've been enjoying wondering if they did their own makeup or each others'.
Gavin got harpooned, and pinned to a door. Yes, you read that right, harpooned. It's a pretty crazy show. He's bleeding, and faints. Tim goes a bit crazy and threatens mr brittas with a screwdriver because they can't just wait for an ambulance and he's totally freaked out that Gavin could be bleeding to death.
these next two are gorgeous. It's in the first episode, and it's the first 'real' indication to the audience that Tim and Gavin are a couple. Tim's trying to organise their afternoons off so they get the same afternoon, and he's asking Mr Brittas if swaps could be made. And he's explaining why... and it's something like "We get along really well you see, we have all the same interests and hobbies and-" he sort of just starts rambling with this endearing smile on his face... and then Gavin reaches over and warningly tugs his jumper. Then Tim grins and goes "It'd be really helpful." I love it, it's so cute.
It really sucks because the fandom of this show is so small... but the characters are soooo cute!! If anyone here is a fan, or would LIKE to be a fan, I'd love to hear from you.
