*it seems like all he does lately is worry, and sleep to get away from the worrying; currently, he has Sora's stuffed paopu and one of Ri's shirts that he saved from the laundry, and his bed smells suspiciously like one of Kairi's favorite perfumes - but at least he's sleeping more easily than he has all week*

*comes into Riku's room, carrying a basket filled with freshly washed and folded laundry, then pauses in the middle of the room, wondering why Riku is asleep in the middle of the day*

*doesn't budge an inch, holding the shirt and plushie tightly to his chest*

*he can smell Kairi's perfume and wonders if she's been visiting, and drops the laundry near the closet, his expression worried as he looks at Riku asleep*

*he still has dark circles under his eyes from when he gave up trying to sleep, but they're fading with how much he's slept today alone; he's still in his school clothes, and there's a folded note sticking out of his back pocket, almost falling out*

*makes a little disgruntled noise because he's going to be the one to wash that uniform and iron out the wrinkles, and carefully nudges you onto the bed more comfortably, dislodging that note in the process*

*which he picks up to read, because it better not be another detention notice*

*it's a notice to his parents that Riku's grades from this week's testing were significantly lower than usual, enough that if he doesn't bring them up in the next testing period he'll be pulled from the blitzball team, and as it is he's on probation and is to benched at games; the counselor wants to know if there's something bothering or distracting Riku lately, as usually his grades are very good*

*his chest feels heavy and tight as he reads the note, hanging his head because he knows it's because you've been so worried about Sora and not sleeping, and he hasn't been helping you with homework lately and not been sleeping beside you to make sure you don't have nightmares*

... I... I'm sorry... I guess I only mess things up...

*doesn't stir - in fact, he's gotten so used to you not being here that with your shirt there? it doesn't even register that you're even in the room, he's sleeping so hard*

*he feels... bad... and this is wrong somehow even though he wanted it to be right; then he gives up and spoons up behind you to hug you, thinking it'll be okay since you're asleep right now*

*his knees curl up toward his chest and his arms tighten on his stolen comforts, as if some part of him is now worrying that they'll be taken away*

*he just holds you closer, pressing his forehead between your shoulderblades, and surrounding you with his warmth, and the scents of 'Strawberry Sunshine', fabric softener, and his own scent of strangely comforting darkness*

*you'd think he'd be trying to get away from any darkness, but oddly enough his subconscious recognizes it and he relaxes a little, some of the tension leaving his shoulders*

*he just strokes you gently, having nothing to say, and nothing to give you for comfort besides holding you*

*she comes in with her bookbag over her shoulder, looking very worried, as Riku's mama sent her upstairs saying he was sleeping; this soon after school?*

*she drops her things and hovers over you both by the bed, wanting to crawl in and snuggle Riku*

*whoops, Riku wasn't expecting Kairi to drop in... seeing as he swiped one of her favorite perfumes without asking to spritz it on his bed and set it on the nightstand, the same way he swiped Ri's shirt and Sora's plushie*

*blinks and sits up so he can turn and face Kairi, not having expected her to visit either; but he puts a smile on for her*
